As promised, we have a race report from one of your team mates!

Local rider Chris Anderson has let us have his race report from a 32mile 3 lap Lakes & Lancs sporting course TT here in the North of England. We pick up just after Chris’ warm up:

…I arrive about 2mins to spare and watch the two riders in front disappear off up the long start hill. 30seconds to go, shoes in pedals 20, 15, 10…5.4.3.2.1 and I’m off!

Lungs bursting by the top of first climb with heart rate hitting 170, a short respite then it’s another hill. The breathing settles down but my heart rate is still too high for my liking, my legs are burning as I crest the top of the last hill before the first left hander, then it’s a nice downhill section with speed throwing me up the rise on other side. Cresting this I spot my minute man on a long undulating section about a mile long and a few minutes later I haul him in. Taking another left hander and a long 30mph + downhill section another 2-3 riders come into view.

The legs have stopped burning and my heart rate has dropped to a nice 168, it’s going well as I pass another couple of riders and get to the last uphill before the finish line. One down two to go and the second lap is pretty much the same; fast on the downhill and slow on the uphill. The final lap and the legs are starting to scream, my heart rate is back up to 170+ and the last climb seems to go on for ever with my mouth gaping to draw in more air. Legs are absolutely screaming as I cross the line whispering my number to the time keepers.

A slow ride back to HQ, warm gear on and straight on the recovery drink, then it’s into the hall to check the times. It’s been a good day at 1hr 28m29s and 5th place overall! A great result with only 42 seconds separating me from 2nd place. Duncan Orme grabs 4th place with 1hr 28m 22s (only 7secs between us) and Jose Pinon-Shaw getting 15th place. Overall a great result for Team ProBikeKit in our first team outing of 2010.

Well done to Chris and his PBK Global Team mates for their efforts. Remember, if you send in your race reviews to pbkcyclingteam@probikekit.com with pictures, we’ll do our best to feature them on our blog.
