fantastic tires

These are great training tires. They are long lasting and fairly puncture resistant. However they will square out after a while. And, in my opinion, don't work very well in the rain. But for a training tire these are great for the price

Great Training

4

This is a great tyre for training. I ride the Gatorskins over and over again with out moving to other tyres. The back tyre always goes for me first and the front Tyre will last for 3 back Tyres. I race on the GP4000s and for training I have found the Gatorskins to be closest to the feel of the GP4000s, not as light, not as fast, not as grippy but hey its a tough training tyre. The only down fall with the Gatorskin is the sidewall; it gets damaged easy and the weave pulls out. They should fix that!

Great bang for the buck

I've used the Gatorskins for several years for training. I have never found a better tire that offers superior flat resistance while still providing tolerable performance for mixing it up on Saturday rides. They are not the fastest tires, but they offer a lot of protection from the glass and/or the chip and seal roads I frequently find myself riding.

Love the Gators.

Probably the best durable long lasting tire out there. If you want to not worry about flats and blow outs, get these. Of course, flats are also by luck, but these give you the best chance. Would love to try the GP4000S someday, but for now, love my Gators!

durable

So far these tires really hold up to hill climbing/decent duty cycles. I've run them on my trainer and still going strong. These tires are a real bargain.

Great commuting tire

What can be said about Gatorskins except: their tough. I've got about 1500 miles on my current set and they are still going strong.

Why only 4 stars?
a) they're heavy
b) not very fast
c) I had one tire that had a sidewall blowout after only 3 weeks of use. Not sure why. But the replacement has been great for nearly a year.

If you're commuting or training and not concerned about running at top speed then you need to buy them. I've never found them as cheap in the US as they are here on PBK. Especially if you can catch them on sale!

Puncture proof

5

I've ridden these tires for training for almost 5 years now, typically putting between 5-8000 miles in per year and I've had (0), yes that's right, ZERO flats since then. Considering I ride in the burbs of Chicago, where road litter is widespread, I think that's pretty impressive. Highly recommended!!

Excellent tires

Mount them and forget em. I've ridden 6000+ on Canadian pothole filled roads and have had ZERO flats. Don't look any further than these great tires.

A fast training tire that doesn't compromise performance for price.

With its great combination of protection, durability and performance, Continental's Gatorskin tire is an all-around winner - and quite possibly the best training tire available.

Puncture protection rivals that offered by Specialized tires featuring Armadillo technology, yet offer a significantly more comfortable ride and last much, much longer.

The three plies of 60 tpi casing are not exactly equivalent to a single layer of 180 tpi casing, however, the Gatorskin's ride quality, suppleness and overall performance rivals that of tires costing a lot more. While rolling resistance is not as low as its Grand Prix 4000 S sibling, the Gatorskin is still a surprisingly fast tire. It feels very secure in wet conditions, too. You simply cannot go wrong with a Gatorskin!
