Great performance wise, but no incremental improvement for the price

These pedals work quite well, as all Shimano pedals do. Solid engagement. Easy to clip in. Nice platform. But for the added price over the 105 version you get no improved performance and less than 10 grams of weight savings. For the money, it makes sense to go cheaper with the 105s or save up for the Dura-Ace.

Sound and reliable performance, but the price is pushing it

The contact area is broad on the Ultegra pedals so your feet don’t rock when you ride out of the saddle, while a replaceable stainless steel plate on the alloy body adds durability.

Clipping in is straightforward with a good, healthy clunk letting you know when you’re engaged. Getting the spring tension equal between the pedals is simple too, thanks to a little indicator on each one.

The bearings are smooth straight out of the box and you can service them easily as long as you have the Shimano axle removal tool. The trouble is, although they’re solid and dependable, these pedals don’t stand out especially for the high price.
