Time to ride indoors

Its now time to retreat to the garage. I wanted a Smart trainer at a good price. This fit that bill. Solid construction and weighty so gives confidence when sprinting as it doesnt feel like it will move. Response using online racing game is fast and smooth.

Looked at all the regular contenders for a Smart trainer after retiring my old wheel-on Kinetic. It seems whichever make/ model you look at, you'll always find some negative reviews on them all (including the Saris H3). For the price however, I decided it was worth a punt, and I have been very pleased with the unit to-date after logging a fair few hours on it since purchase. I did notice the batch number/ date on the packaging box was May 2021, so quite a late model which was good. This has me hopeful some of the more common irritating issues I've read about have been resolved in later batches. I've used it on both Zwift and Trainerroad, and both work well. Road feel is good, and the ERG response is very good. I tend to favour TR over Zwift once I start training properly, and the ERG response on the the H3 is about as fast as you'd want it to be. Calibration via the app' is easy, the unit seems solidly built and is quiet enough (I've always got headphones on anyway, so any noise claims are kind of irrelevant). Again, for a trainer with this spec' I think it's about the best buy out there at the minute...

I have had several wheel-on trainers, including one smart trainer but have never enjoyed using them. I wasn't at all sure that the claims of reduced noise and improved ride feel would match the considerable cost of a direct-drive trainer, but based on my first ride it was well worth taking the plunge! I couldn't hear the resistance unit at all below 35kph and it was still very quiet at 40kph and there is so much inertia in the heavy flywheel the sensation is very true to real riding. Using my existing Saris App and Rouvy AR account it was up and running quickly using Bluetooth, with no glitches. Price and delivery from Pro bike Kit was very impressive.

Don’t buy Saris H3!

It’s loud knocking noise irritates everyone in the house after one week of use! It’s difficult to calibrate and resistance seems very erratic in zwift. Wish I would have bought anything else!

The machine is running as intended, happy with overall performance. The packaging left a bit to be desired as it was obvious the unit had rolled around a bit and does have a large scuff which is only cosmtic damage but still cocncerning that internal components were shaken as well. Product got stuck in customs for over 2 weeks but that’s at no fault to the supplier or manufacturer.

Impressed

Coming from a wheel on trainer, the difference from that to this is incredible. So smooth, quiet and numbers actually match what my 4iiii powermeter reads out. Easy to set up and fully compatible with AppleTV and Zwift. Recommend

In these confined Covid times, I jumped on the chance that PBK had this smart trainer in stock. It was easy to set-up and was able to start pedalling once I installed a cassette. The ride is smooth and realistic. Am able to play music as the noise from the trainer is low.

Very pleased with the Saris H3 turbo trainer very realistic feel to it very good on Zwift and Rouvy. Good quality feel and robust feel to the product very silent can hear drivetrain of bike more than trainer has made indoor training much more pleasurable experience.Onlyto a 14 day wait. Only disappointment was that they used Hermes to deliver it which they failed to do and they had to resend with Royal mail so it took 14 days but was worth it in the end.

Great Trainer

Moved to the Saris H3 from a wheel on Tacx Bushido smart trainer to get the better road feel of direct drive. The H3 is very well made, with a high quality aluminium body and a decent weight to it. It has side legs that give plenty of stability. Set up is easy, connecting to Zwift in seconds and has a good long power cable. It doesn't come with a cassette but includes a spacer for 10 speed and thru-axle adapters. Ride feel is brilliant with realistic spin-down and it is very quiet with most noise coming from your drive train. It has more than enough power and feels great pedaling along in all modes of Zwift. I have absolutely no regrets at putting so much money into a high end trainer and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get serious about their indoor training.
