Giro Ionos Cycling Helmet - RocLoc5

Giro Quality. However I wish for the top of line they would use better materials for the straps. They use the same one for all helmets and it feels a little unconfortable when wet.

Excellent helmet

Giro are one of the market leaders in helmets and the ions is one of their best. Light weight, secure and most impressive... it is super cool on your head, the air just rushes through this helmet!

Great helmet

The Giro Ionos is a really great helmet. It fits really well and has a lot of adjustability. It is really well vented so your head is always cool. It has a lot of attention to the detail so nothing annoying edges or straps and stuff like that. The helmet fits great on almost every head. It looks kind of big on your head, but if you don’t care for fashion and weight you get the best helmet.

Excellent Venting, Great Looks

The Giro Ionos is one of the best vented helmets currently available. The Ionos' shape and retention are very comfortable and effective; however, neither quality is exception. What sets this helmet apart from others is the amazing venting. The helmet really is considerably cooler than other top offerings from other companies. The helmet even comes with a winter liner, which is nice but also somewhat of a gimmick. Unquestionably subjective is the appearance, which for me the Ionos is one of the best looking helmets available - easy to judge for yourself.

The Ionos is quite heavy. There are worse helmets in the weight category (e.g., Rudy Project). The weight on my helmet was within a few grams of the claimed weight range. Not overly heavy by any means, but far from the lightweight of the Prolight or other lightweight offerings from other helmet makers.

Overall the Ionos is an excellent helmet. The shape and retention system give a good, secure fit. The helmet comes with an extra set of pads and winter liner, which are a nice bonus. The venting is better than most, but the weight is not quite as good as most.

Wise purchase

Much deliberation takes place when shopping for a helmet. When looking at all the helmets on offer, you will notice the cheaper end of the scale, the helmet isn't as good looking as something from the mid-high end Giro. The Ionos looks the goods, is light, has plenty of adjust-ability in terms of fit and is well suited to many head shapes. The shape of the helmet itself is nice and slim line, with a natural drape on the head. Fits the sunnies perfectly too, for that pro look. Spend the extra and get something that you will be always happy to wear.
