Simply works!

If you have di2, then this really is the icing on the cake. Feeds back to your compatible device (Edge 1000 for me). Small and easily installed. Mine is neatly tucked into the seat tube. Oh, don't forget the necessary (but expensive) connection wire - it's not included.

Neat gadget

Clever add-on for di2 allows you to monitor battery life and gear ratio's - I find this handy on the trainer as I can be more consistent with previous workouts. Doesn't tell you on official info but I fitted mine in the seat post inline with battery so no sign it is there and works fine. Worth noting you will need to buy an additional wire to connect it as doesn't come with one.

Install tips and tricks

Physically, this is super easy to install (providing you manage to find the correct length of cable in stock somewhere). Electronically, however, there are some tricks. Firstly, you'll most likely need to upgrade all your di2 components to the same firmware version using the USB PC interface. Once you've done that, ignore the Shimano pairing instructions. Once you get your computer in search mode (the Garmin 510 has a separate search for di2, you have to click on the di2 icon to enable it first). Then you'll need to activate both dérailleurs before the D-Fly will be detected. I spent ages unplugging and plugging the battery, like the Shimano instructions suggested, and flicking the front dérailleur. It wasn't until I happened to move the rear shifter that suddenly it was detected! Now it's all working great!

Di2 D-fly ANT + unit

5

An excellent piece of kit! When used in conjunction with the Garmin Edge 520, the Di2 D-fly + ANT allows recording of gear changes and battery status through out the ride. I find the gear changing information the most useful (I chase cadence) as it allows me to concentrate on riding instead of constantly looking down to see which gear I'm in. The unit is small and unobtrusive and easy to install. One downside- Shimano do not include a cable, this has to be purchased seperately. Thumbs up!
