Zipp 303 firecrest wheels

This has been my first set of carbon road wheels. Just got back from 2 weeks of riding on the big island of Hawaii doing regular 1000m plus climbs and the wheels felt great. Super light. They catch slightly more wind in a crosswind than my aluminum stock wheels but that is to be expected. Very nice rear hubs with lots of engagement points. Very damped. The first time I’ve come back from a ride without hand numbness! I watched the airline treat my bike bag like the opening scene from Ace Ventura and still no damage. Set up tubeless with a hand pump very easily. The shipping from the UK to Canada took only 3 days!!! And no duty. Very happy with my purchase and the service from Probikekit.

Half a wheelset

I’d like to be able to provide a full review of this excellent looking wheelset. Sadly ProBikeKit only sent me a front wheel and wouldn’t send a rear wheel to complete the purchase. So now returning the front wheel to get a refund. It looked great though! 5 starts for Zipp; zero for ProBikeKit.

Light, snappy and confidence inspiring wheels

I am using the 303 firecrest wheels for a month now and am super happy with them. The really upgraded my ride and made the bike feel lighter, faster and snappier. I am using them with 30mm Conti 5000 tires, which feels soft and super grippy. I did not had the chance to try the wheels in fast down hills or in cross winds. So far - I can warmly recommend.

first carbon rims

Replaced the DT Swiss R470 rim on my Aethos Comp. Had to purchase the Zipp Speed Weaponry ZR1 XDR Freehub, but got a good deal on the rims. These rims changed my bike for the better, whole lot better. So much smoother and feel like I am using less effort for same speed averages. Definitely was worth it.

Zipp 303 firecrest hookless

Shipping was was fast and items arrived without any obvious damage to the box. 1 week from UK to Melb . Wheels set up and matched with Zipp G40 Tubeless Tyres. In the same conditions as riding on my previous wheels my average speed was up noticably and I was finishing my ride fresher and felt like doing more. They climb fast, hold speed and sprint pretty well too. So I would say they are a great all round wheel. Also note Dimple tech onboard so they cut through the air nicely with a 1to1 surface relationship with tyres . The the new hookless tech enables them to run lower pressure so you get more comfort and efficiency over surface imperfections. Trust in the Zipp Tyres pressure calculator and you'll get the benefits. The new graphics help them blend in too. I'm not a fan of the old large lettering as it's a bit dated now. So the styling is on point for current times. I'd recommend these to road or gravel bike riders and can be quite easily be used as a sole set of wheels

Crazy set of wheels and and now Zipp have a lifetime warranty. Getting these for my gravel bike (aspero) and have no doubt they will be up to the task.
