Great tires for beat up roads

5

Bought these as i moved outside of town in an area where roads are sometimes beat up and rough and there's the occasionnal gravel sector. They are tough but still manage to keep a grip and be supple. I got them in tanwall size 26mm. I used to ride more expensive race tires (GP4/5000 and corsas) and don't see much of a difference in terms of performance on asphalt. Recommended.

should have been named 'Road King'

4

I'm an old school roadie (road gravel on 28c tires back in the 90's). The current 'gravel' tires available today are better than those days, definitely more durable. This is a classic road tire, not as supple as others but it is more durable for gravel. This will never be as grippy in loose rocky gravel but for a smooth road tire it does okay. As an 'all road' tire it is pretty good. For the rocky / loose gravel the novices might want to get something with knobbies.

Great, but sizing is off

4

I bought these for my road bike because the roads round our way are so terrible you might as well be riding on gravel. They seem to do the business - grippier than my old tyres and inspire confidence on rough surfaces. Worth noting that the sizing might not be entirely as specified - mine are supposedly 28mm, but my verniers put them at about 26.3mm. Now I'm wondering if I could have got away with the 30mm. Bit punishing on the thumbs getting them on the rims, but I managed okay.

700x26c wore very quickly

2

Tyre was great at first, good uphill on steep and wet trails, and fun to ride. However, the tyres (700x26c) wore very quickly: after ~150 km there was significant wear on the back tyre, most of the centreline tread was gone, and after ~500 km the contact width is completely smooth. Kept them decently inflated, so this was pretty disappointing, especially as they were not cheap.

Nice summer tire

3

I ordered these based on some reviews i read. They roll very nice and feel great but there puncture resistance is not so great. I replaced one of my tires with this and left the other as it's not warn out yet and have had 3 flats with just the panaracer in a little over a month. They look great and offer some nice characteristics but think i will stick with what i was running when it comes time to replace.

Great Tyre

5

This tyre has great traction on gravel. When climbing, I can get off the seat, and the rear wheel still spins naturally. And once you get back on tarmac, it feels like i'm riding a regular slick tyre. I completely recommend this!
