Love the Gators.

Probably the best durable long lasting tire out there. If you want to not worry about flats and blow outs, get these. Of course, flats are also by luck, but these give you the best chance. Would love to try the GP4000S someday, but for now, love my Gators!

Great bang for the buck

5

I've used the Gatorskins for several years for training. I have never found a better tire that offers superior flat resistance while still providing tolerable performance for mixing it up on Saturday rides. They are not the fastest tires, but they offer a lot of protection from the glass and/or the chip and seal roads I frequently find myself riding.

Great Training

4

This is a great tyre for training. I ride the Gatorskins over and over again with out moving to other tyres. The back tyre always goes for me first and the front Tyre will last for 3 back Tyres. I race on the GP4000s and for training I have found the Gatorskins to be closest to the feel of the GP4000s, not as light, not as fast, not as grippy but hey its a tough training tyre. The only down fall with the Gatorskin is the sidewall; it gets damaged easy and the weave pulls out. They should fix that!

Really Great tire may want to think about 25mm size though

4

Purchased these for a race that was 50% rough dirt and 50% pavement. They worked really well at preventing punctures; however at mile 31 of 55 I hit a pothole and had a pinch flat. I was using 23mm tires, so hindsight 25mm may have been a better option for this type of race.

Excellent Training Tyre

5

I have used many different training tyres over the past years but I have yet to find a tire that has both the puncture resistance, durability, and overall road feel as the Gatorskin. Truly a great option if you need a puncture resistant tire but do not want to sacrifice a quality ride.

fantastic tires

These are great training tires. They are long lasting and fairly puncture resistant. However they will square out after a while. And, in my opinion, don't work very well in the rain. But for a training tire these are great for the price

tough like a gator!

5

Maybe the most durable tires for bike ever, especially if you ride fixed. I bought a pair four months ago and tires still look good. Great price on this site also!

awsome tires

I have been riding these tires for about 4 months now and I have not had any punctures, and also what is great about these are the low roll resistance they have.

25mm Gatorskins held up well to potholes and savage pavement

5

I had never tried these before but the LBS recommended them for my East Coat riding in MA. I rode for about 3 weeks on them in Spring in Western MA in US last year. I used the 25mm tires and Michelin Airstop Butyl tubes run up to about 110 psi (am I about 175lb or so).

I have never ridden on worse roads than some of the sections as I hit then, with huge potholes, cracks, gravel after the winter, and general roughness and other road horrors. I also road in Easter NY state and VT, and while the roads were better, there was still a lot of damage from the previous winter. I slammed some pretty harsh potholes where I actually had to stop to check the wheel - but the tires and the wheels held up.

So, my first experience with these on the first hundreds of miles was very favourable. For the fact that they were the 25mm tires, and not race tires, they felt reasonably quick - as quick as anything can feel while jack hammering over cracks and debris anyway...

I have not yet had any problems with sidewall threads coming off, which I have seen on many many of my Contis (4000s, and 4000). I have stopped using Contis and switched over to Michelin for that reason - and will try the Krylion as I wonder if over the long term the Gatorskins will have that same problem.

So, I would give them a 5 star, but because of my experience with the other Contis having the sidewall threads come out on many different tires, I am holding from a 5 at a 4 star rating.

The cold weather tire

5

Everyone else has already written about how great this tire is. So I'm going to laud it as the best cold weather tire. The reason is simple, removing your gloves to mend a tire in the cold winter months is a miserable experience. While rolling on these, I have not once had to mend a puncture. No frozen fingers, no discharged CO2s frozen to my hands.
