Excellent pedals
5Shimano probably make the best pedals from my perspective, easy to use, easy to maintain, stable. I have a broad foot so I use these because the axle is slightly longer, just gives me a bit more clearance from the crank. So good I bought these as a spare set.

shimano DA pedals long axle.
5Love these pedals. These are my second pair as I don't like switching them out between two bikes The price was too good to pass up. Didn't realize I'd be disappointed when the review age bucket only goes up to 54.

5Apparently the bearings in these are some of the very best. I hope so. Seem to be having a little trouble clipping in but I am sure this will get easier. They look good and feel good. Early days but I expect to get a long life out of them.

Just what I needed
5I had been using DA SPD-SL Pedals for some time. While I liked them I was having issues with my left ankle clipping the crank. I have size 13 (48) feet and really needed a bit more clearance. I had tried adding some spacers to the axle but I was concerned about limiting the interface between the pedal and the crankarm. When I saw these on sale I decided to give them a try. They have totally eliminated the issue and made a big difference in comfort and efficiency in my pedal stroke. I gave them 5 Stars because they did exactly what I had hoped they would do.

4The pedals were exactly as advertised and significantly cheaper than if purchased in the United States.

5Very impressed as a first time purchaser of price of goods, quality, and quickness of delivery. I have just purchased further bike goodies so am sure will be the same service. Many thanks, Pete O.

Quality
5This is the second pair of these pedals I have purchased, this time for my training bike. The pedals are easy to engage on the move and make a positive click in sound when you have. I also like the Shimano cleats with the rubber pads that give you far greater walking stability when off the bike (such as in the cafes) unlike other brands that have you slipping over without the need for cleat covers . The longer axle works means no more messy looking packer washers between the pedals and the cranks. It would be nice if Ultegra pedals would do the longer axle length, but they don't as far as I am aware.

4I used to use other pedals with washers as I was set up like this, and without the extra width my knees did get painful as I tried it without. Shimano have included the extra with into the spindle so that washers are no longer required, and it looks so much neater. I prefer Shimano as the cleats offer a good walking platform with small rubber pads so you dont slip over or mark the timber floor when you have forgotten to fill your water bottle up before leaving. I prefer them to Keo pedals that i had before these as I find them easier to engage particularly at the start of a race. Very expensive when compared to Ultegra pedals, but I dont think they do the longer axle.

It makes a difference
5Having the wider pedals really makes a difference for me. The wider pedals were recommended last time I got fit. I used to get sore knees after a long ride but I don't get that any more. Everything is more lined up, presumably. As for the pedals themselves, you really can't go past these ones. They're the best available, I think.
