Faultless so far!

The main reason for my purchase was to replace/update my Edge 705 which is a little dated now. I'm on a pre-season training camp shortly and its a real pain having to plug the computer into a laptop and upload it etc. and I don't have to bother now! As soon as I press stop and save, the ride is uploaded and pushed to Strava. So much faster than the 705. I had grown into the habit of using my phone to record the ride but on long rides the battery would die leaving me with nothing. Now I've got tonnes of data right in front of me again and it's enhanced my training as I can now see my HR zones again which forces me to push on. I haven't tried any mapping yet but it's a top bit of kit and everything I need....until proper live feedback on Strava segments come in and then I'll change again!!

Great Product - Great Service!

I have been looking at upgrading my Garmin Edge 605 for a few months. The 605 is great and has served me well since 2010 but I wanted to upgrade to something that I could check cadence and heart rate with as well as provide the core tracking and mapping functions that my 605 has done so well. First impressions of the 810 is that it has a more up to date feel about it. The controls and basic functions are very similar to the 605 so I was able to get up and running with the unit quite quickly. I took it for a few spins on it's own then tried with the heart rate monitor and so far all has been good (well, with the technical side of things rather than my heart rate!). The mapping is clear although I've yet to use it 'in anger'. Despite the plethora of features, the 810 remains straightforward and pretty easy to use (at least for the functions that I need). Adding the GSC10 cadence monitor was a little more time consuming but the instructions were clear and it seems to be working as it should. I noticed that I will have to change my routine slightly though to ensure that the cadence monitor is picked up by the 810... I always had the habit of starting up my 605 while getting ready to give it enough time to get a GPS fix. Sometimes this meant that I would start the unit up some distance from the bike. I have learned that if I take the same approach with the 810, it doesn't detect the GSC10 and there seems to be no way of searching for it again once the 810 is up and running - you have to power down the 810 and power it up again. That's not too much of an issue once you're aware of the limitation however I have seen a few reports online that you can run into difficulties on a longer ride when you might stop and take the 810 with you in for a coffee etc, It's best to turn the unit off when you stop for a long time then restart it again when you're back at your bike. The service received from Probikekit was great! I ordered the unit at 6.30pm on a Wednesday. It was dispatched within hours and I received it at 2.00pm the following day! Parcel tracking was enabled so I was able to determine within an hour what time to expect it. I shopped around for the best price before ordering and Probikekit were by far and away the cheapest I could find (even taking into account various loyalty discounts I could have got with other suppliers). I'll definitely check Probikekit first for future purchases!

Garmin 810

I bought the Garmin 810, HRM, Cadence monitor and 2014 maps just over a month now. I have used it for well over 500 miles and have now found these items an essential part of my riding. The Garmin software is really easy to use and it is quite exciting to plan the routes and it is extremely easy to send them to the device. The screen can be seen in all lighting conditions (even really sunny with ease). If you are following a planned route the navigation is visible and there is a gentle reminder by an audible beep for a change of direction. All screens are fully customizable and have multiple bike setups. The Garmin is also fully compatible with Strava and is easily imported. If you are contemplating buying the Garmin 810 my advice is go for it; all detailed specification is available on the Garmin website. Also if you have not bought from Pro Bike Kit before their service will not disappoint you.
