The first aero race jersey project was called split second and back in 2006, everyone thought Castelli was crazy. Back then, aero was only for TTs. Performance clothing meant moisture management. And you could win the Tour de France with a baggy jersey that was little more than a polyester T-shirt. Even Castelli's aerodynamic consultants expected limited gains, so they named the jersey Split Second, though, like now, they thought even small gains were worth pursuing. In the end, the gains were pretty substantial, and Castelli completely revolutionized the look of the pro peloton.
Castelli is now on the sixth major revision of there aero jersey. Each generation has become more aero and better fitting. The Aero Race 6.0 benefits heavily from CFD analysis of wake flow in the riding position for fabric and seam placement. It also benefits from Team Sky riders' feedback, as Castelli have worked to make the jersey comfortable for their long hours of training and then racing in every possible weather condition.
It's Castelli's most aero and most comfortable Aero Race Jersey yet. But they're already working on an update.

I'm 181cm, 75Kg, 80cm waist. Large size is a perfect fit for me - nice, tight, super aero look and feel. Hugs the body. Fits like a small does in regular non-aero jerseys but is more hugging / fitting. You do get some noise across the top of the shoulders in aero tuck at speed but that's the only position I've found where that occurs, and even then it still feels so much smoother than other tight fitting jerseys I've tried. It's warmer than a regular jersey - the weave is very tight. So potentially a bit hot for summer in Australia, but should be fine up to high 20s C. Just did my first 170Km race in this jersey over the weekend, and couldn't even feel it was on at the end - super comfortable.
Really like this top. About as aero as you can get without going for a full skinsuit! It’s tightly fitted and very snug but you won’t need to get a different size - I am normally L in other jerseys and the Castelli L fits perfectly. The sleeves are longer than other tops with laser cut edges and the cut round the shoulders is very sleek. For a high end jersey it’s well priced compared to some brands and I got mine with a discount. The light steel blue goes really well with their matching bibs.
