Bont Riot+ , the worlds first carbon composite heat moldable entry level cycling shoe now available with BOA retention system.
The Riot+ combines Bont's pro series technical features, our power transfer platform, anatomical shaping with competition grade materials and BOA retention system to create the most technically advanced entry level road cycling shoe.
Microfiber Upper Is Utilized
Microfiber upper is used to provide the Bont Riot+ with a strong outer layer to withstand the rigours of everyday cycling whilst extensive perforations across the upper ensure excellent ventilation of the cycling shoes.
Carbon Composite Construction
The carbon composite construction of the Riot+ has been specifically designed to ensure maximum performance at low weight. The composite tub style construction of the chassis has been strengthened with the inclusion of carbon across high stress areas. The carbon has been sandwiched between layers of fibreglass to maximise strength.
Z form velcro and micro adjustable BOA retention system are utilized in conjunction with Bont's anatomical design to ensure a secure fit.
The Bont Riot+ is highly ventilated via extensive perforations of the top panel.
Between the outer leather and the liner we add a material that is proprietary to Bont to stop the cycling shoe from stretching over time. This material has similar strength characteristics to Kevlar. The material is stitched to the outer leather and bonded to the liner so it can never move or be removed, it becomes part of the cycling shoes structure. This layer assits in pedalling efficiency by maintaining a supportive structure over the top of the foot in the upward part of the pedal stroke.
A last is a replica of a foot that the cycling shoe is built around. Last makers do not make cycling shoe lasts, they only make shoe lasts so perfecting a cycling shoe last requires a great deal of expertise in functional biomechanics and ongoing research. At Bont, we have been perfecting our performance footwear lasts since 1975 and the process is ongoing. We believe we place more importance and thus place more effort into our last than any other cycling shoe brand and it is the reason that Bont cycling shoes continue to be a leader in providing the most functional and correct anatomical support to cyclists than any other brand on the market. Our motto in terms of cycling shoe fit is simple, "We make shoes for cycling, not walking."
Medial Longitudinal Arch Support
Structural medial longitudinal arch support is provided in all models to stop over pronation of feet.
Over pronation is one of the main contributors to incorrect tracking of knees during a cyclists pedaling phase due to internal rotation of tibia and femur. This can result in knee injuries.
In addition, the rotation of tibia/femur can cause the pelvis to tilt resulting in lower back strain.
Anatomical Heel Cup
The anatomical heel cup shaping of Bont cycling shoes provides increased stability during the pull through stage of pedaling stroke and up stroke. This stabilization is achieved without any mechanical operation or over tightening of straps/laces allowing for increased comfort and blood circulation.
Lateral Forefoot Support
Bont’s lateral forefoot support ensures neutral positioning of the forefoot and alleviates common issues associated with over pronation and supination. These issues often result in incorrect tracking of knees causing injuries along with hip and lower back pain.

These shoes have everything at a fantastic price point. Just remember to measure your feet before you order, I almost ordered the wrong size as their sizing is different than others. Also most people have one foot bigger than the other, so order the bigger size for a better fit. Shoes are heat moldable as many times as needed, and breaking nicely after a couple of rides.
Pros: 1.Numbers on the bottom of shoe make for precise placement of cleats is fantastic. 2. After 6 months of use shoes are still functional as day 1. 3. Very comfortable (after break in period!!!) I wear mine up to 8 hrs a day. 4. In the rain and cold shoes stay quite warm till 37 degrees with the vents taped off. 5. Shoes never smell bad after continuous use. 6. Very stiff great for power delivery to pedal. 7. Wide toe box Cons: 1. Boa closure is a joke it only cinches the top strap down. Velcro would work better seeing my shoes upper material buckles into itself when tightened all the way down putting pressure of the material into the top of my foot. 2. The vent holes in top of my toe shoes are not completely open due to the synthetic material still remains where the hole was cut. 3. My foot being narrow the bottom Velcro strap cannot get tight enough to be snug. 4. The stitching is coming out of several areas of the shoe. Conclusion: After price comparison to Giro and Specialized that have fully functional Boa closure systems for the same price and have better fit and finish. I suggest buying one of those over these shoes.
I purchased these road shoes based on that they have a wider toe/foot box area. They are very roomy and my toes don't get numb like some other road shoes I have used. I like that you can heat fit them as well. Quality looks good. I have only two complaints both are minor issues. 1st, the arch area is quite high and narrow in the shoe, which was corrected with about three heatings to widen them to my liking. The other is from all the pictures I have seen on the web, I bought the red version. But actually, they are in your face safety orange. Just a little off the wall for me. But I can live with it. I like these shoes and would recommend them.
