Very good value for money bike box at this price. Used it a few time for air travel, and no issue at all regarding the bike, so it is doing what it is supposed to do. On the downside, the box is a bit heavy so you won't be able to put much more in it than your bike if you don't want to go above the 23kg limit. Also one of the attach for the frame gave up on the first trip, without possibility to repair it. No big deal, but I hope the other ones will last much longer.
The bike case is easy to use, easy to move around and perfect size. It protects well the bike frame and derailleurs. On the other hand, The plastic part that connects to the quick release and protects the wheels broke after first use. I truly expect PBK to send new ones at no cost, as they were clearly not robust enough.
Just completed a round trip to Spain and bike and case made it back in one piece. Tbh it was between 4 and 5 stars and had the instructions had slightly better photos and the rear wheel support not been so tricky to fit around the bike frame, it would be a 5. I had a couple of dry runs and after some fiddling about, managed to get the bike in with enough space to also pack my shoes, helmet, spare tyre and a few smaller items. My advice would be to take a photo once you are packed, as being slightly out of position with your bike may cause either of the wheel supports to miss a gap, which means the case won't close. The main issue was fitting the handlebars in to ensure the aforementioned wheel support had space to close, but once in the right position, everything was held in place firmly by the numerous velcro straps. The foam padding which is provided, should protect the wheels from the frame and once closed, the case wheels really well and is easy to move about. With my medium carbon bike and accessories, I was about 25kg so well under the limit for most airlines. All in all, pretty pleased and not a bad price either.
I bought a ProBike box for my wife recently and we are both delighted with it. It is very robust, comes with spare spindles to secure the wheels and is slightly smaller than my Bike Box Alan which is great as my wife's bike is a lot smaller than mine, so fits brilliantly with room to spare. Also lots of spare room for other kit and tools if required when cycling on holiday. We would definitely recommend a ProBike Box if you are thinking about purchasing a bike box. The price was excellent too as we were lucky enough to get a box that was on offer. We are both very happy with our purchase.
the bag was delivered quickly and the first impression is excellent. It looks quite tough and even the details seem pretty strong. I haven't tested it yet on a flight trip but i am optimistic it will handle well. My TT bike will definitely fit. I have my doubts whether the support rods fitting on wheel skewers will stay still but it will probably be ok. It's light, it fits all dimension registrations and most importantly, it's a bargain for the money. I can hardly believe how good it looks for this price
Recently bought the PBK bike case for my forthcoming charity road cycle challange to Grand Canyon USA. Delivery was prompt and efficient and all arrived safe and sound in a big protective cardboard box, have practiced several times to strip down pack and reassemble bike which I can now master in under one hour. At first I thought the wheels seemed a little loose in lid of case but a simple sheet of bubble wrap behind them set my mind at rest. Pedals off, Bars off at stem, and I don't even have to undo seat post ( small sized Boardman Elite SLR) then all into case and tightens with industrial strength Velcro straps provided in abundance. Believe me, once in, the frame is locked solid it has no contact with the wheels in lid as the separating foam barrier provided prevents this and the whole thing is locked tight. Two plastic struts also separate the lid from base to prevent a crushing hazard. Multi catches to fasten everything shut and standard cable ties fit to secure case, fairly robust caster wheels with ball bearings seem to work well. Very pleased so far... Off to the airport to try it out transatlantic! Will follow up review on return
