The Triathlon Evo II is a handmade 320 TPI tubular tyre with a slick tread. An impermeable butyl inner tube is specially designed to hold the pressure in your tyre when the bike is parked overnight in a triathlon event transition area. Despite being created specifically for Iron Man and triathlon events this tyre is also suited to time trial events.

I have been riding on tubular tyres for over 40 years and these are the best I have ever used. Prior to fitting these I was using the superb Vittoria Corsa SL Pro Series which, as far as I can tell, are exactly the same but with latex inner tubes instead of Butyl. To me the latex version felt more lively from a standing start but once up to speed the butyl Triathlon Evo's seemed to be a faster tyre and this was confirmed by my track times. Of course the overriding advantage of these is that they retain their pressure overnight. In fact they stay hard for well over a week. Although I have developed superman triceps from pumping up latex tubs to 200 psi every day I have had enough of it and I will use these from now on. The other reason I really like these is that they are slick all over. I dislike tyres that are ribbed on the edges because, in damp conditions, even very slightly ribbed tyres pick up a layer of crud on the edges that slows you down and is very had to get off once it has dried on. No such problem with these though.
