AMPPED Up

One of the most popular front cycling lights from Cateye is the AMPP 800. And why’s that? The AMPP 800 is a well-built, easy to install, and effective light, at a competitive price. It’ll come as no surprise that this light offers 800 lumens of white light. If you primarily stick to the roads when cycling—up to and including unlit lanes—there’s plenty of lumens to go around. An added benefit of this light is the OptiCube lens technology that enables light to be shone horizontally and be more visible from the side; perfect for when pulling up to junctions.

Wearing Me Out

It's not all about big, flashy (pun intended) headlights though. The Omni 5 is an excellent little light that offers a range of visibility across 180 degrees. It’s small size and visibility make it an ideal light for commuting across urban streets or as a supplementary light to a brighter primary light. What’s more, keep this light in flash mode and you’ll not have to worry all that much about the battery since it offers an impressive 120 hours. In more energy intensive settings, you’ll still get a respectable 40 hours our of it. When it does come time to replace the batteries, the AAA batteries are easy to swap out.

Maximum Volt

For the ultimate lighting experience, you’ll want to consider the Volt 1700. This is a super-powerful front light that’ll illuminate even the darkest country lane. Boasting five different modes, including steady and flashing, you’ll have options for urban riding and when out on those country lanes. If you’re looking to do a bit of off-road riding it’ll cater to less technical terrain, though might not be up to the most hardcore trail riding. It’s a well built light, that should keep you feeling safe while out in the dark.
