Sharpen your cycling performance with Edge 500, a lightweight GPS-based cycling computer for performance-driven cyclists. Loaded with data, Edge 500 tracks your distance, speed, location and elevation with high sensitivity GPS. Add an ANT+® compatible heart rate monitor, speed/cadence sensor or compatible power meter for a finely-tuned analysis of your ride.
Jumpstart Your Training
The Edge 500 attaches easily to the stem or handlebars of your bike with its low-profile bike mount. The Edge attaches easily to the mount with a simple quarter-turn. When you're ready to ride, just power on your Edge, acquire GPS satellites and go. Edge 500 features a high-sensitivity GPS receiver with HotFix® satellite prediction to calculate your position faster.
Get the Data You Need
During your ride, Edge 500 measures your speed, distance, time, calories burned, altitude, climb and descent, and records this data for your review. For extra-precise climb and descent data, Edge 500 also incorporates a barometric altimeter to pinpoint changes in elevation.
All Edge 500 versions work with third-party ANT+-enabled power meters to display your power output in watts as you ride. This valuable data shows you how hard you're working, regardless of conditions affecting your ride, so you can train smarter. Some versions also ship with a digital heart rate monitor and speed/cadence sensor.
Other helpful training features include a Courses feature, which helps you compare successive rides over the same route, as well as Auto Pause, Auto Lap and temperature readings. Edge also alerts you if you’re moving but the timer is not running.
Track Your Heart Rate
When paired with a Garmin heart rate monitor, Edge 500 tracks heart beats per minute and uses your heart rate for advanced calorie computation, so you know how many calories you're burning. Train in a certain heart-rate zone to improve your fitness level or compare your pace and heart rate to past performance over the same ride.
Analyse Your Ride
Once your ride’s done, connect Edge 500 to your computer with the included USB cable to analyse your performance. With a simple click, you can join a worldwide network of cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts through Garmin Connect™, a one-stop site for data analysis and sharing.

Garmin Edge 500
Works very well, was able to sync with my computer the first time without a hassle. This is replacing a 305 that I had for 10 years and finally wasn't able to sync with the new software.

WOW !!!!!!!
Garmin, I debated purchasing this product for a number of years due to cost and apparent complexity of operation, boy ! I am sorry on both accounts, I got a great price at Probikekit with all acceassaries , heart rate strap, cadence sensor, no complaints the product has many many features, such as speed, average speed, temperature, calories burned ,cadence just to name a few. I hooked it up to my computer it and shows me all my statistics I am really enjoying this little gem.

Edge 500
Good for price. It has so many kind of function. Various data and even a virture riding with my LOG Data. But It's fault is one. The GPS accuracy and Elevation accuracy. It display Elevation use barograph. So I think it's not right. I hope it get the elevation via GPS signal. and it doesn't indicate Zero Kilometer when I stop. maybe GPS Sat. but other Edge 510 indicate Zero Km/h (velocity). I wish it could get more accuracy data from GPS. And 1 more things. I wish it could get Weather Information from GPS. It only indicate Temp. via Temp. sensor. I wish it could forecast. but, many kind of functions and data indication is perfect! I strongly recommand it.

Best Bang for the Buck
First off the product has been great. No issues, and my cycling results have improved since installing. Love the detailed data for analysis. But once again Probike is the best. From date and time ordered to my door in Ontario Canada one week! And best price to boot. Love it!!!

Great bit of kit
A really great purchase, don't know how I managed before! Really flexible, showing exactly the information you need at a glance in any given circumstance, whether training, on a sportive or race. (With the cadence & HRM) Easily transferrable between multiple steeds, simply by selecting the setting for which bike you chose. (2 mounts supplied, but multiple cadence sensors will be needed if that's the feedback you desire) Still finding my way around the many settings and reports that can be generated on the Garmin + upload site. - All data automatically can be sent to Strava as well. Highly reccommended.

Great unit
After trying to use my smart phone and a bluetooth heartrate monitor as a bike computer with logging functions, I finally gave up and bought the garmin 500. The main reasons for the switch were that I couldn`t find an app that gave me a decent display configuration and the phone battery was only good for about 6 hours with bluetooth and gps running. While garmin makes many fancier gps units, this one hits the sweet spot with respect to functionality, price, and performance. It has all the features of the higher end stuff except for three things: - mapping - smart phone integration - touch screen Since I already carry my android phone on my rides, I have mapping and communications capability if I get lost or need help. And the phone battery is much more likely to have a charge should I need it. After using the 500 for a couple of months, I have had no problems with performance or usability, it`s a great little unit.
