Quality

As is expected from Garmin, this temperature sensor is very good quality and well thought out in its design. The mount simply fits around any narrow strap and clips firmly to the unit itself, making the attachment very firm indeed and easily strong enough to withstand serious off road impact. The user replaceable battery fits under a bayonet mounted cap and should last 12-24 months depending on temperature. Linking it to my Garmin Etrex 30 couldn't have been simpler. Once I had the latest version of the etrex software installed I simply selected Tempe "on" and the device was found in about 20 seconds. I have tested the accuracy of the Tempe and it was within 0.5 celsius of other devices. Range should not be an issue either when mounted on a bike or rucksack. One piece of advice I would pass on is to purchase a small tin of silicone grease to lubricate the battery hatch (and any other rubber 'O' ring seals) as this will allow the seal to slip into position without riding up causing a leak. Overall, a very good device, and nice addition to the data currently collected by my Etrex.
