The Grand Prix 4000S II boasts global appeal as the best all round race bike tyre on the market. Not only is it fast and super grippy, thanks to its state of the art BlackChili rubber compound, but it is also tough with a healthy tread layer and of course Continental's Vectran anti puncture breaker layer underneath. So for reliability, longevity and all out performance for your race machine, the GP 4000S II is the only choice.
How are these figures possible? The carbon filler particles within the rubber compound are reduced to 1/10th of the size of standard carbon particles. This creates a closer knit with the particles having more points of contact with each other, thus forming a tighter bond, (increasing mileage performance) and also with the road (increasing grip). Also the way in which the particles interact with each other has a dramatic effect on reducing rolling resistance. Black Chili is used by several ProTour and Continental teams as shown opposite.
The all new Vectran breaker belt, developed and patented by Continental, surpasses even the famous puncture resistance of the former leader in this category, the GP3000. The extremely strong Vectran fabrics are more flexible and lighter than all other puncture protection materials. Vectran offers more resistance to cuts than Aramid, is five times as strong as steel and features less weight than a nylon double breaker. It also maintains strength in the wet.

The best tyre I've ever used: light, grippy in all conditions, incredible puncture resistance, and last for over 5000 miles! Used them for several years and can't see myself ever wanting to try something different.
Fat road tyre but really smooth rolling. Quiet but grippy rubber.
Fastest clincher rubber that I have ridden. Ride well, reasonable longevity.
Love these tires! A rock-solid training tire, and very well priced! Highly recommended!
Have used these for two years now on all my bikes in all weathers, I like the 25mm width option for more comfort. Grip is good in wet and dry, get over 4000 miles out of each set of tyres. Only get the odd puncture no more that other tyres I have used in the past. I do over 7000 miles a year on my bike so appreciate good tyres.
Without doubt the best tyre I've run to date. Fast, smooth and very very grippy.
Always been a big Conti fan, particularly with their excellent Gatorskins, which have never let me down. Bought a pair of GP4000S IIs 700x25s to replace the excellent Mavics that came with my Ksyrium Elite S wheels. On first 30 mile ride to bed them in I got a front tyre blow out descending a steep hill (part of the Prudential London Ride Classic rout that the pros rode a week later). The tyre wall had a split in it and PBK eventually replaced it after 10 days of toing and froing by email including photographic evidence. I suspect it was a manufacturing defect - maybe a bad batch. The rear tyre survived the Prudential Ride 100. The extra width of the 25mm make for a really comfortable ride with excellent handling and good rolling. I have downgraded to 3 stars because of the defect, but would have given 5 stars based on the rear which has been fine.
best clincher tyre i have ever used. combined with PBK's rapid dispatch, I've experienced an unbeatable combination.
Nobody who is buying this tyre can underestimate the awesomeness of it. Superb grip level, good puncture protection and low friction. What more could you want from a race tyre? However PBK let the side down in that it was more than a month late :-/
Excellent grip and comfort, 25mm is fast rolling. 1000kms in and no punctures, quality product.
With a week of riding behind me these tyres feel so much grippier than the stock rubber supplied by Giant. Acceleration feels quicker and they are quieter than my previous tyres. I feel more confident with these.
these tyres seem to be as good as people say they are really smooth and very quiet
I have used these tyres or their previous model for years and as I said in a recent reveiw they are excellent tyres giving them a 5 star rating however this one was bought to replace an almost new tyre which became cut on the sidewall ( I have read other reveiws where this has been highlighted as an issue) so I'm not so pleased this time around and may consider another brand the next time a purchase a new pair of tyres
My favorite tyre as far as durability and punture resistance. Good for racing and fast training rides.
The best, good all rounder that continue to excel on all fronts
I've been using GP4000s for the last few years I find them to be hard wearing, reasonably puncture resistant, easy rolling good quality clincher tyre. As they are really meant as a race tyre they are more than good enough for a fast sportive rider
The difference between these and my previous 23c Specialized Espoir Sport is astounding. They help soak up the bumps without fuss and actually make me cycle faster on Britain's less than perfect roads. Well worth the investment so far
My new bike came with Vittoria Pro Rubino Slick and the bike didn't perform well at all. So I ordered these and what an upgrade. Instantly I got the bike I wanted. Precise handling, excellent grip and also speed.
Bought first set nearly 2 years ago, been great though the back was wearing a bit so I thought I’d replace. Reason I like these tyres:- 1) Easy to fit on my Carbon Fibre clinchers – so I don’t need tyre levers (which always worries me on carbon wheels – also, don’t make my mistake when I fitted the first set – make sure you get the rotation arrows in the right direction) 2) Light weight 3) Spin up well 4) Long lasting 5) (Fingers crossed on this one!) seem to be puncture resistant 6) Good value 7) Look good I can only recommend, also great service from PBK – arrived next day
Replaced a pair of Continental Grand Prix 4000S 23c with some 4000S II 25c. A slight increase in comfort with the extra volume but only very slight, rolling resistance and speed still good. They are the same Black Chilli compound which is vey sticky. Wear isn't badly compromised either.
The tires look very nice bike. Performance is also very good. Excellent grip, the faster the speed. The best choice!
Spare tyres which I have always used simply the best make
Continental's GP4000's have long been my favourite tyres, and these S 11's, the latest version, are the best yet. They are light, grip well, have substantial puncture protection, and they look good too.I wouldn't use anything else.
Badly needed some new tyres and with so much choice it was hard to know what to go for. I came across these tyres which looked pretty good in terms of durability and performance. I fitted them last week and went out on a fifty miler this Sunday. Tyres felt good and should last some time. Good price paid for pair. I would buy these again
These can be purchased on-line folks for 17euro less than advertised here, not being critical of Probikekit, have purchased here previously but it does pay to 'shop around'.
Conti GP 4000S was known the best but 4000S II got better!! Just try it. There are reasons why its sold the most in Korea. Only rides conti. cuz its the best.
4 punctures in 2 weeks prior to buying these. No punctures in 2 weeks with them and the grip is noticeably better too!
What a brillant offer,to good to miss, new contis are great, exactly what you expect, well done Probikekit for offering such a good deal, put Wiggle in their place AGAIN!!!!!!!
Great tyres. They are really grippy giving you confidence to hit the corners fast. Low rolling resistance and they are light too. Helped me take full minute off my 10 mile local route. Really impressed.
Nice tyres, only covered 100 or so miles so far but very pleased.
