First class turbo trainer, ideal for zwift. Used most of the settings since purchasing it 2 weeks ago. Resistance adjusts instantly on zwift which makes for a realistic workout with no hiding places. Trainer is smooth and precise. Full ERG mode also very good for an FTP Test. The most impressive feature has to be the power readings. How elite get it so accurate is something else for the price bracket. All sensors instantly hook up to zwift no issues. Power readings compared to vector and stages reads spot on no concerns over drift or skew to within +/- 1. Was looking at a Tacx Neo before purchasing but why spend more when this does it all for a fantastic price. In my opinion elite have a better quality product all round. Resistance maximum of 14% elevation is more than enough for most but if your wanting more we are splitting hairs. Fantastic service yet again from PBK free next day delivery what more can you ask.
For reasons best known to Elite, the Direto implements ERG mode (Zwift workouts, Trainerroad, Sufferfest) in a way that seems to bear no resemblance to the actual use case. Having tried Ant, BLE, Zwift, Elite's own apps, any number of calibration and smoothing options, I simply cannot get this unit to pick a power level and stick with it, instead showing a near sinusoidal swing around the value. It may just be that this is typically Italian and is exceedingly picky about having the cadence and gearing *just* so, but I can't get it there. It's a shame, as otherwise it seems like a cracking unit with very positive reviews, but Elite won't bother answering their emails so I've no idea if I've just got a faulty item or whether "they all do that, Sir".
I received my Elite Direto Smart Turbo a few weeks ago and held off writing a review until I had a chance to get a feel for it. I had a few issues setting it up and a quick check of the Elite FAQ's son pointed out that this model wont connect to a windows laptop via Bluetooth. Fortunately I had an Ant+ dongle and once I had established a connection the turbo worked brilliantly. The turbo was really easy to build up with just three base legs requiring attachment. fitting the cassette was a doddle. I am using the turbo in may garage and it is fairly quiet and and with a bike installed it is very stable even standing on the pedals giving it some. The power accuracy is very good and the reading response is excellent as well. I primarily bough this as an upgrade to use with Zwift replacing my old Elite Chromo Mag manual turbo and it has transformed my Zwift experience. The changes in resistance feel so realistic it is unbelievable. I would highly recommend this turbo it is great value for money and a great training tool.
