Decent shorts at a good price

4

Now these offer good comfort at this price point, the stitching on the pad is good, straps are long enough, and the grippers cope with my flabby thighs just grand, sure they do not feel as good as the posher brands, but they are less than half the price.

Spot on for a long haul, no slip or chaffing!

I was recommended these bib shorts as having a very comfortable pad at a very reasonable price. I used them for a 10 hour ride and found them to be excellent! The pad stayed in place and no nasty creasing or chafing, seems wider than others and very comfortable. The leg elastic is wide and very table even when over leg warmers. The bib braces stayed in place on the shoulders and the back was not too hot. In fact it was noticeable how breathable they were and not too sweaty!!! Really like these at such a great price. Thanks again PBK

excellent

I have two pairs of these Louviers bib shorts. The quality seems very high, understated and good looking shorts. I find them comfortable and a good, though not greatly compressive fit (169cm, 60kg) in medium. The white bands that finish the leg seam don't pull or iritate: very nicely designed. Longest distance so far was 140k and didn't notice any trouble with the pad. The reflective tabs are a thoughtful feature. Time will tell regarding the durability. For the price, I can't criticise at all. Highly recommended.

Excellent value

Bought these bib shorts in the sale and have been very impressed so far. The pad has been comfortable, though both rides to date only been about 18 miles each. The fit is good - I bought large and I am 5'10" and 12 stone, slim build. Would definitely recommend.

Great fit for me

The shorts seem great quality, I have a selection of Castelli Velocissimo and Free Aero and a few different types from ODLO. These bibs are easily on a par with any of those. Good compression on a size large for my 6ft 1inch 12 stone frame. I find the pad really comfortable on rides upto 50 miles (I haven't gone further with them), much more so than the Free Aeros that do not agree with me, even on 20mile interval rides.

Go large

Good BIB shorts and initial rides very encouraging. You need to order a larger size as I am 6' 00'' tall, weigh 12st 10lbs and the XL size just fits me..

Louviers pro bib shorts

Bought these hoping for a good long distance short, being towards the top end of PBKs own brand offering. Unfortunately the description didn't say what type of EI chamois they use - it's actually a medium distance one. Took them out for an 80 miler at the weekend. First 40 or so miles they were excellent, good fit, very comfy. After that though they quality of the pad started to tell. Would recommend these for anyone looking at short distance rides, but for longer distance riders, would look elsewhere.

Potentially great....

I really wanted to love these bib shorts, they are a superb price for the quality but they just aren't for me. What's good about them? They look really nice with a mixture of standard Lycra and 'carbon lycra' panels. The stitching is really well done and while the seams aren't flatlocked this doesn't cause any discomfort and isn't noticeable or bulgy. The fit is good (I went for small as a 5' 9" man with 31" inside leg and a sprinters thighs - but not the speed) and they are comfortable...off the bike. They also have some little scotchlite reflective details which is a nice touch if you are commuting or on darker rides. The overall quality is worth more than the reduced price. So why only three stars? My main problem is the pad. There is a good amount of padding around the sit bones but it thins out towards the front and, for me, doesn't give enough padding under the perineum. I've had bib shorts from lots of manufacturers and this is the only one I've found uncomfortable. I'm also bike fitted so this isn't a problem with my ride position. These are mainly used on a short commute of 7 miles but even in that short distance I suffer discomfort. But pads are subjective and the other reviewer has had no problem so if you are happy to take a put on 35 quid these are a bargain if they work for you. My only other minor niggles are the labels and the scotchlite tabs. I'm used to cutting out labels so they don't dig in my back but these have spiky corners that are poking out of the stitching and there is little or nothing I can do you cut them out without wrecking the panel stitching. The scotchlite tabs are a nice idea but they stick out like mini Gary Lineker ears and I don't know why but that annoys me! They also face the ground when I'm riding so won't actually be very effective but that could just be my ride position. But like I said, little niggles aside, these are really nice shorts worth way more than the 35 quid I paid so if you are happy to risk that and the pad works for you these are a steal.
