Stay away!
This 'new' non-drive-side PM from Avio is actually a great idea. The sensor is recessed, so there will be 100% compatible with any frames, even the tight ones. So I decided to give it a go and bought one from PBK. It arrives within 10 days, which is a compliment to PBK. The problem starts with the two pinch bolts that came with this unit. They felt cheap and light when I first handle them and remembered thinking, maybe I should use the two bolts that came with my Shimano cranks. But I didn't. One of the cheap bolts stripped as I torque them at 13 Nm (mind you, the recommended torque was 12-14 Nm) and yes, my torque wrench is calibrated! On my first ride with it, the thing kept on giving fluctuating reading, after my initial ride (25KM), my Garmin reported an average of 63 watt. Yes, I know I am hopeless and unfit, but my Garmin Rally PM and two other 4iiii PM on my other bikes constantly give me a constant average of 140-160 watt for the same type of ride! Second ride on, the average was 103 Nm, which again, I found it bizarre, but I thought, maybe I had too much pizza last night. Came back from that ride, the bike was a bit muddy, so I hosed it down. Just using a normal garden hose (NOT a pressure wash!) and I did not, at anytime, directly spray the Avio unit! I dried up the bike and the components, as I always do, and leave it for the night. This morning, as I was about to roll out, there is no light, no anything from the Avio. My Garmin did not detect it. So I replaced the battery with a brand new one, the red light blink twice, then dead. Permanently. What a joke. I emailed Avio's support (about the stripped bolts) and they didn't reply. This product is a joke. Stay away. Don't even try to buy it. Useless. Utterly useless and a total waste of time and money. Now, I will have to go through the hassles of returning this rubbish back to UK and wait for PBK to refund my money, which may take a good 3-4 weeks!
