Smart lunar R2 rear light

5

I purchased the Smart Lunar R2 rear light as my current light was not really up to the job and a friend showed me one he just bought. I could not believe it only runs on 2 AAA batteries and the range and brightness this little light produced was impressive. I looked on a few sites and found PBK were on top again for price. I commute to work early in the morning and I can now feel confident that any motorist can see me from a mile away. A great purchase, great price and great speedy delivery. Thanks.

Hella Bright

Bought this on the recommendation of a friend as he saw my old light and told me these were brighter and better quality. He wasn't wrong! the thing is crazy bright and likely annoys people in their cars as i cycle down the road safe in the knowledge that they can't miss me! My only gripe is that i easily lost a key part of the seatpost attachment as it fell off when i unscrewed it and rolled off somewhere never to be seen again. Fortunately i had a spare but perhaps something sturdier that won't fall out as soon as it's unscrewed would be beneficial. I mean, what if i'd stopped off to do some adjustments mid -ride and it fell off? Still though, gets the job done, has a bunch of settings that you'll never use and seems water resistant so far. Great buy.

Excellent rear light, one of the best i've had. Very very bright, cant say anything about reliability as not used in rainy weather yet! Will be appling vaseline on rubber seal as advised by other users. Looks great too!

Super bright but how reliable?

3

These are great lights and there is no question of just how versatile, bright and visible they are. I have purchased two of these; one for my road bike and one for my gf to commute with.

After riding for a short period, the mode often changes and usually remains on a steady beam(thankfully never turned off completely). This does unsettle me as I'm just not confident that the light is on and that I remain visible.

I have found this issue with Smart and Knog lights in the past The Cateye I've owned for some years on my commuter however remains reliable so that is what I'll stick with.

Great visibility and lots of mounting options

Two half-watt LEDs make this ve-mode rear flasher visible from hundreds of metres away. As well as constant, single LED and flashing modes there’s an attention-getting disco flash pattern and a pulsing mode – good for constant visibility on unlit roads.

The body has a clip to mount on a jacket or saddle bag, and 31mm and 18mm clamps are included so it ts almost anywhere on the bike including the seatstays. We found the stiff switch slightly awkward with winter gloves, though.

Brilliant rear light...get lots of comments. I also use it commuting during the day in overcast weather and heavy traffic. Love it.

The best tail light out there!

I was replacing a Planet Bike Superflash, and already had a second light, a 1/2 watt Radbot on the rear. This light is better than either of those, brighter, more dispersion as well. I compared it to a 1 watt Radbot, and while not quite as bright (maybe -10 percent or so) it is MUCH more attention getting. So much so that I purchased another 2 of them. Impressed! Small con vs. the Radbot--this light has no reflective part...but makes up for that in the modes imho. As an aside, exactly like the Portland Design Works light, but with 2 extra modes. Battery life and waterproof-ness both very good. Bottom line, I could not be more pleased. Oh, excellent mount as well, both on seat tube and rear dropout.

My absolute favourite

5

This LED is now my go-to rear light. 5 great modes. Single steady, double steady, double steady flash, double disco flash with pulsing and a double steady pulse mode.

It's bright and can easily be seen a distance away. My most beloved mode is the double LED steady pulse. It makes driver alert, but doesn't bother other cyclists around me. Of course on busier roads I use the steady flash and/or disco mode- in conjunction with another secondary steady LED light (so motorists can judge distance).

Overall the bracket system is sturdy (compatible with my other Smart lights) and the weatherproofing just as good as my now retired 0.5watt Smart rear LED. Highly recommended.
