The power of the neck scarf.

Leopard Trek have been in the enviable (or unenviable depending on how you look at it!) position of being one of the talked about teams of 2011.  With their high profile riders, hyped scarf wearing announcement and subsequent performance it seems likely that this isn’t going to change.  When they held their big glossy launch back in the dark depths of winter, many (including us it must be said) were quick to mock their scarves and question the plain white, blue and black kits which at the time, looked rather uninspiring.

But as time has gone by and we’ve seen the Leopards streaking by in the cold spring light, we’ve actually come to rather like the kit, it’s really quite smart and when it arrived at PBK our minds were made up – we like.  We stand by our original judgement about the scarves though, they were a mistake.

The Team.

Leopard Trek have got some big names and phenomenal riders in what’s a pretty strong all-round squad.  Led by Brian Nygaard, the team includes some of the biggest names and talents in the sport including; the Schleck brothers, Fabian Cancellara, Stuart O’Grady, Jens Voigt, and Italian sprinter Daniele Bennati.

But, with the attention and focus that only a scarf wearing launch can cause, came high expectations and until recently many had begun to question the teams lack of success.  But as Jens Voigt, the legendary hard man who has the strength of eleven bears (no one else has achieved this to our knowledge) pointed out, what a difference a week makes.  Fab Fabian Cancellara’s textbook solo victory in the E3 Grand Prix (he was almost a clear minute away) and then Frank Schleck’s impressive victory in the Criterium International have demonstrated this teams potential, shame on those who doubted!

So, without further ado, let’s take a quick look at some of the highlights of the team kit:

Team Short Sleeve Jerseys:

The Leopard Trek short sleeve jersey.

The Schleck brothers would be proud! The replica Leopard Trek Team Short Sleeve Jersey is available in both the traditional team colours and also in a special Luxembourg National Road Race Champion edition, as worn this year by Frank Schleck. Will we see Frank take this jersey across the finish line first at the Tour de France this year?

In terms of technology, both of these jerseys feature summer weight technical fabric, with L1 ventilation technology which wicks sweat away and helps to keep you cool, even on the longest rides. A full front zipper also provides instantaneous ventilation when the going gets tough, and the tough get going. When you do need to really put the hammer down, the elasticated fabric will prevent the jersey from riding up. Finally, three back pockets are on hand to store anything you’re likely to need on your rides.

All in all, high quality jerseys in the distinctive colours of Team Leopard Trek – the ideal way to show your support for Luxembourg’s finest.

Team Bib Shorts.

Leopard Trek bib shorts. Comfy and swish.

Like any Craft product, the bib shorts are finished really nicely.  A Craft performance chamois uses three layers of foam to provide support where it’s needed, both antimicrobial and seamless you can be sure that it will keep you as comfy as possible on those big efforts.  The mesh upper and straps provide extra ventilation, to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable in the summer heat.  The lycra is a summer weight technical fabric, wicking moisture away and providing a four way stretch so you stay comfy.

The bib shorts are available in both the standard Leopard Trek blue white and black, as well as the Luxembourg National Champs colours you’ll see Frank whizzing around in.

Team Accessories:

Craft have also produced a range of Leopard Trek accessories to complement your jersey and bib shorts. The leg warmers are made from body controlling fabric for optimal body control and power. We’re not saying they’ll turn you into Fab Fabian overnight, but the four way elasticity ensures excellent freedom of movement while offering a tight compression fit in order to help your muscles perform and recover. Flat lock stitching and silicon grippers offer a secure ergonomic fit while subtle Leopard Trek branding shows your allegiance to the Luxembourg team. The shoe covers have a very Euro styling about them. Made from elastic fitting fabric creates a shoe cover that not only looks fast but rides fast.

Honed and tested by Team Leopard Trek, these accessories will give you the performance, feel and the look of a pro.

So there we go, a quick look at the key products in the range, to see the entire Leopard Trek range check here.  Don’t forget there are Long Sleeve jerseys, gloves, a winter jacket and many other exciting products either here or on their way.

Let us know how you get on with it!
