The combination of attention to aerodynamics and versatility creates Wind 40 DB.

It's easy to see that the design of the 40 mm rim is the direct descendant of the Speed 55 wheel: all the features developed for the range topping wheelsets have been included here, in a more versatile version.

The Wind 40 DB has 40 mm deep, lightweight rim, created by the superposition of wide, modern unidirectional carbon layers, with a pronounced profile (8 mm radius). The design incorporates innovative shapes, designed to provide a smooth transition between the tyre and the rim eliminating turbulence.

The wheelset is completed with aluminium hubs, which support 24 "straight pull" spokes, guaranteeing maximum overall rigidity, both in acceleration and when braking, without lateral movement due to the asymmetric nature of the forces coming from the disc and cassette.

Love my Fulcrum’s

This is a great looking wheelset and I particularly like the undrilled rim bed (no messing around with rim tape). The Conti GP5000 S TR tires mounted much easier than expected and sealed well, even before adding sealant. The 40mm rim depth looks fairly pedestrian and understated. I have an endurance bike and was hesitant to buy the Wind 55’s as I was concerned about how they’d be affected by cross winds and also didn’t know if I wanted that sexy race machine look (can’t have people expecting too much from me). Still on the fence about my decision but no regrets. I’ve owned the Fulcrum Racing 1’s (fast and fun), the Racing 4DB’s (great value, needs to be taped as close to tire bead seat as possible if being used tubeless) and now the Wind 40 (speed and durability tbd).

Great

First carbon wheels so IDK what to compare them to. But they weighed in at 1650. I have a short loop I sometimes do to fit a ride in when I don’t have much time. Took me about 53:10 on my DT 460 rims with nova Tex hubs, and then 51:03 on these a week later. Set my best time on an 11%-1.5k climb at 5:04 just before getting these then did 4:40 on the fulcrums. They do catch wind though. Going downhill on a day with gusts at about 25mph once I got the bike over 35mph it felt a little sketchy. Glad I didn’t buy the 55’s. But probably to be expected. I’m running 26mm Pirellis and fit is perfect. I didn’t measure but they look to be the same width. Tires went on and inflated easily with a floor pump. I put red muc-off valves in with ultegra discs/cassette. Looks awesome.
