Campag Bora One clincher wheels 50mm.

Awesome set of wheels, very fast, good in cross winds compared to other 50mm wheels I've tried, expensive but worth it,

Campagnolo bora one 50 clinchers

5

Beautiful wheels, you immediately notice the ease of acceleration. Climbing with these is much easier. Campy quality on top as well, highly recommended wheelset. Latex tubes and 24 mm tyres, a perfect fit. I wouldn't bother with tubular with this this type of wheelset. Can ride every day on these and race as well.No hassle!

Slow Bora Ones

On arrival , the wheels were good however, the experience was affected by the slow delivery, particularly the transit of the items through Australian Customs (the slowest part)

Great wheels

5

Done around 600km on the wheels and are very happy. Came in under weight at 1440g. Have used 404's before and the Bora's feel fairly similar above 38-40km/h. They are slightly more affected by cross winds, but I'm only 65kg and have no trouble in strong winds. Breaking is good even in the rain which I did not expect. Hubs spin great (one of the main reasons I went Campy) and the ride is excellent as I run 10psi lower in each wheel compared to standard rims.

Beautiful Bora

5

It's currently 16 below zero and the snow banks are a couple of metres high, so how can I review the new Campagnolo Bora One 50's I just purchased ? Well I can't, but then again I can ... well at least partially. So this is my challenge. A comparative analysis of these wheels, in relation to their older siblings and to current wheels from other manufacturers, to which I have had the pleasure to either ride, or observe. Out of the box these wheels are a joy to behold. The rims are a beautiful carbon fibre weave, much wider than previous Bora's, enabling faster and more comfortable ride characteristics using 25 or 27 mm tires. Most notably though are the lack of holes at every spoke, so that no rim reinforcement tape is required to mount the tubes and clinchers. While spinning them two things jump to the forefront. How easily and smoothly they spin and how well balanced they are. Balancing the wheel on one finger as they spin like a toy top, I thought I should compare these to other popular wheels, so a pair each of Zipp's and Reynold's are quickly rounded up for a completely un-scientific and subjective test of their build qualities and smoothness. No need to get into specifics, as the results were as conclusive as one can get without a real testing protocol. The Campagnolo wheels spin longer and with less 'bounce' than either of the other two. Build quality is superb, with spokes to equal and perfect tension and with the Campagnolo spoke alignment, aero spokes are all exactly parallel to the rim. I have the very first generation Campagnolo Proton wheels with tens of thousand of kilometres to their credit and have never needed truing. These seem even better sorted out. This is astounding, since these are the 'cheap' models. They 'only' have ceramic bearings in aluminum hubs, not the CULT bearings in carbon fibre hubs. Therefore, these wheels weight 20 grammes or so more than the more expensive Ultra 50's and yet appear to be identical in every other respect. I know the CULT bearings spin better (I have a pair of Ultra 80's for TT's), but for a full thousand dollars less, I get 90% of Campagnolo's best and much better than the two competitor's top of the line wheels. So what are you going to buy ? A pair of the other aero wheels touted to be the 'best' in their class, costing also a thousand more. Or buy these, and spend that thousand left over on an aero helmet and some really good tires, and have enough left over to buy a titanium cassette. In the wind tunnel you save more watts with a good helmet and these wheels, than ever so slightly better aerodynamics of the competitors. I know where my money is going. Once Summer comes to northern Ontario, I will write the final chapter on these wheels after putting some serious kilometres on them. Until then, I am most pleased with these wheels.

Merry Christmas to Me!

5

I haven't used the wheels yet but up to now everything's been great. Took about 3 weeks to get the wheels delivered to me in the U.S. Not too bad. Better than I expected. Shipping box had some damage on the outside but wheels look fine. Wheels look great and even weigh a little less than advertised. Can't wait to try them out.

Beautiful wheels !!!!!

Campagnolo Bora are fast, beautiful wheels smooth bearings I regret not getting them with cult ceramic bearings, hubs very quiet, absorb vibration great , I used to ride deep wheels so I can't tell about cross wind.I'm running them with 25mm in my F8 not rubbing on the frame .....very stiff .... Shipping and customer service from Probikekit was Excellent took a bit more than usual due to Christmas time at customs.

Nothing else compares for the price

These the the best aero wheels you'll ever buy. The strongest, lightest for the depth and they roll forever. Suppied with brake pads, skewers, wheelbags and tyre levers. 2 year warranty too. They are 24mm wide on the outer which makes my 25mm tyre sit almost flush. I could use a 23mm tyre and it'll be perfect as the tyres tend to sit better on the wider rims. The bearings are ever lasting, I already own the bora one35's. in forms of speed, these roll faster on the flats as they are more aero, as for the climbs i don't notice any difference between the 50's and 35's. The rear free hub when new is ultra silent, but in time can resume to make noise, if you like your free hub quiet then just re-pack with campag grease, or leave be if you like the freewheel sound. supplied brake pads work awesome on dry and wet. don't notice any difference compared to my mavic r-sys with the black grove tracks and mavic pads. No spoke noises too as none of the rear spokes touch each other unlike the zipp NSW's I had. The side wall is firm and the ride is excellent. You can not go wrong with these. Better then most which cost a lot more! Not tried the ultras but my cycling buddy has them, to be honest the price difference between the ones and ultra are vast but the performance is minimal if any. Fast speedy delivery from ProbikeKit UK. I went for the Shimano versions as its easier although Campagnolo 11 speed will work with shimano 11 speed. Care full with replacement pads, as dealers hardly stock the Shimano versions of pads,so stock up, although they do last long.

Campy Wheels

Great wheels, arrived in top condition, no damage. Only issue was slow customs and having to pay a fee for them to be released. I will definitely be back.
