Designed with the legendary Black Chili rubber compound, the Continental Grand Prix 5000 road bike tyre boasts a 10-gram weight reduction in a 25c width, a 12% reduction in rolling resistance and a 20% increase in durability compared with its predecessor. Thanks to the proprietary Laser Grip Technology which creates a micro tread pattern that expands over the shoulder of the tyre, the GP5000 also offers increased all-weather grip, giving you the ability to take even the most technical corners at speed. As a clincher tyre, the Grand Prix 5000 is also incredibly practical and easy to service at roadside too.

Continental believes a comfortable tyre is a fast tyre – which is why the GP5000 now comes in a 32mm width and is constructed with Active Comfort Technology to help smooth the sharpest shocks from the roughest roads. Lined with the tear-resistant but ultra-lightweight Vectran fibres, the GP5000 sets new standards for puncture protection in road race tyres. So, whether you’re training in a downpour or racing in the sunshine, you’ll have complete confidence that your tyre out-performs the competition in every category and in all possible conditions.

Too small!!!

So ridiculous how these are so difficult to get on a standard 700c 23-25 wheel. Should've listened to the other reviews. So regret buying these.

This tyres reputation speaks for itself

Fitted to my race wheels for a long distance Triathlon. Installation was hassle free and the tyre has not faltered. Yes there are more aero options out there (but not many), but not with the same reliability, durability and robustness as the GP5000. Check out AeroCoach for his Wind tunnel data on Tyres. Great read and very informative around tyre options and aerodynamics

Continental GP 5000

My wife blew out a front sidewall on her GP 4000's so I replaced both tires with GP 5000's, 1530 km later another blown front sidewall. Have been buying Continentals for years, may be rethinking that.

How to fit these

Excellent tyres. I see a bit of griping about how to fit them. When fitting them as new: unwrap the tyre and soak it in near boiling water for 20 mins then stretch the tyre by standing on one edge and pulling up. Still tight to fit but not stupidly so - as they are when new and cold. After a couple of 100 miles they stretch a little and become easier to change. Just try not to puncture for 200 miles...😄

So far so great

Recently installed. No issues installing them. First 200km no issues. The tires ride very smooth and very fast. I would give them a 5 star but I haven’t put enough kilometres on them yet!

Continental 5000 GP

A great tire at any price, better at this price. Light and fast.

ContiGP 5000

Not as difficult to fit (Mavic rims) as some people made out. Only 2 x rides so far but more comfortable than the Schwalbe Luganos they replaced

If you enjoy mending punctures then these are the tyres for you.

There's nothing quite like being stood by the roadside mending a puncture in freezing wind and rain to make you question your life choices. One of which should have been never to have bought these tyres. If you have fond memories of carefree riding on GP4000s then save that thought. Remember those happy days and don't invite GP5000s into your life. The compound of these tyres is very soft. They cut up very easily and I've seen more puncture resistance from the skin of a rice pudding.

Good tire

This tire seems to be the biggest bang for my buck. The only reason I won’t give 5 stars is that the bead is tight and difficult to get over the rim. A bead Jack is the way to go, and I carry one with me on my rides. I Velcro strap it to my aero bar, as it’s too long to fit in my bag. If I get a flat in cold weather, trying to get that bead over the rim with cold hands is a very difficult task.

GP 5000

Very comfortable tyre, I been using vittoria, but from now on continental is my tyre
