Sidewall cuts easily
4I have been using these tires for a couple of years. While I love them because they are fast and grippy, they slice far to easily on the side. For my everyday training, I've switched to one of these on the front and a Gatorskin on the rear - this has been working well for me, letting me still get through the corners hard while making it home without a flat.

5Throughout thousand of kilometres these tyres have been fantastic for me and I'm still yet to have a puncture. While durable they also have fantastic road feel and some of the fastest non-tubular tyres you can buy.

First and foremost: when I want to ride with the most confidence of not flatting, this is the tire I use. Does that make it my #1 race tire? Almost. Its one drawback is "feel", it's not supple and it doesn't feel fast (which is not to say it isn't, my times on known courses are essentially the same with the GP4000S and my preferred tires).
That dull feeling is most acute in the first few hundred miles, it does take a while to break-in. And make sure they're mounted correctly, there's a small arrow on the sidewall showing direction of rotation, it makes a difference!
So on race courses known to be rough, or unknown courses, yes, it's my race tire. On courses I know to be reasonably clean I prefer high tpi tires like Veloflex Corsa and Torelli Gavia for their road feel.
I've also found they can be a bit of a chore to mount, not the worst by any means, but they can take some work. Age and use don't seem to moderate their reluctance. They also don't seem to benefit as much from thin butyl or latex tubes as some tires do.
Best allround clincher race tire I have used.

I have used these tyres for the past couple of years for racing and have yet to get a flat while racing on these tyres.
They have great grip into corners and good rolling resistance would not use anything else.

I keep trying quality tires of different makers over the past 4 years on one of my two training ride bikes. My other bike has Conti GP4000s for 3 years and I've not found a better tire (622x23), now on the third pair.
I'm now putting 25s on my second bike which has wider rims, thus I can run lower PSI, have a cush ride and still have high performance.
Some of the great things about the GP4000 compared to the obvious competition (won't mention out of courtesy but most of you know who they are - FR and IT companies - not tried the other 2 DE brands) is exceptional wet and dry grip, very nice ride quality (I weigh 190 lbs and run 100 rear, 95 front), surprisingly flat resistant and surprisingly long life (the big trumps on the competition). Even at 190 lbs I get about 2000 miles on the rear and 3500 on the front (I rotate once - as soon as the rear centerline starts to flatten out).
Conti increases price every year, so buy group packs when on sale and stock up. From paying $50 (online) to now $75 puts these in the tubular price category!

I have used these tyres for about a year & they are really fantastic, being very resilient to puncturing & with noticably low rolling resistance. Being a recreational cyclist who occasionally enters races, I use these for racing & find that their performance never lacks & I usually just cruise past other riders on downhills when not even pedaling. My wheels are average & not high end so I put it down to the tyres. I also think the wear indicators on the tyre tread are a great idea.
Great price, undeniable quality

This tire combo pack sells for half the price of witch I could get them in Canada! The shipping is fast, and if you any questions or need help PBK is always quick to reply. I've rolled over 3000 km with these tires and never had a flat.
Just recently, I adventured on none paved bike path (dust rock, sand and bigger rock) and my tire were intact compared to my partners tires witch are now all cracked. I do not recommend these tires for cyclo-cross since there not designed for this sport but I believe this proves how resistant they really are.
My Grand Prix 4000S have been proven effective in hot weather, rain and even snow. They handle very well at high speeds (90 km\\h) and in tight curves.
I'm completely satisfied of this product and will get new one's as soon a these wear out!

5These are great tires, they perform as all tires should - great grip, good wear, attractive look, light weight, what more can you ask for? PBK has rock bottom sales on tires and they ship the tires fast, you'd be a fool not to buy them here!

5last tiime ordered the 25mm for comfort and more stable ride and the tires achieved what I had expected. However, for some frames, like the Orbea Orca, the clearance is extremely tight with the frame acting like a tire saver in cleaning off the rear tire........................Obviously the frame should not be used for that purpose
