    Not for Gravel

Nice looking tires, tough to get on the first time around but not suitable for gravel. Tires were literally shredded with small cuts on Oregon gravel during a transcontinental bikepacking race with 7 flats in the first 3 days. Lined inside with duct tape until changed after 200 miles (front) and 400 miles (rear). If you buy these, stick to the road where they appeared to perform well.

    Well worth the money

These put the Paris Roubaix tyres available from Challenge or anyone else to shame (those usually top out at 27mm, anyway). The puncture resistance is very good. On gravel, they are great in the mid/low 40 PSI area. On the bitumen, add 5-8 PSI to 50-53 PSI, as they are a bit mushy in the corners down near 40. They are absolutely hopeless in wet clay or mud, but that is to be expected. Dry or wet gravel - great. Dry or wet bitumen - great. They measure up at spot on 30mm. However, they are heavier than claimed at around 408g per tyre. Not a big deal as you cannot get a bigger tubular for bitumen unless you want to run CX type tyres. The 33mm Challenge Almanzo is the closest to a road there. Beyond that, you are into full CX tyres at no more than 33mm unless you order big 38mm balloons from Dugast. In all, a good tyre for combined gravel/bitumen use or heavy loads.
