Got fed up with chewed end on cables so took the plunge for some proper cutters - very pleased, strong and easy to use and added bonus of crimp faces for cable end caps
The quality to expect from Park Tools.
"The" tool choice of the professionals, so this will not disappoint either.
Great bit of kit - would happily recommend if you are looking for a bike specific cable and housing cutter.
These have never failed me. I have used them many, many times now and they always provide a crisp, clean cut. Park Tools are by far the best -- spend a bit more money to get the proper tools.
I had a pair of cheap cable cutters, but these produce far superior results. They produce a clean cut on inners and outers, but the end cap crimper is a bit fiddly to use.
Yes these cutters are expensive, but the adage you get what you pay for holds true. Other cutters may do the job, but the thing is it won't do it as well. The handles are big and easy to grip, and as long as you make a quick strong motion when you cut, it won't crush your housing. After using some other cutters when people have borrowed mine, I am glad I have the Park one as opposed to others
This does exactly what one would expect a cable cutter to do, and it does it fairly well. There really isn't much that can be said about a simple tool such as this, besides noting that it is rather well put together. Good quality and nice feel to the tool. The price however, is absurd. It should cost maybe half of what it retails for.
These cutters work very well, cutting cables & housings easily.
The cutters do not crush housing too bad, but housings will still require some clean up. Nevertheless, I prefer using a dremel to cut housings, as that tool makes the cuts perfectly clean with zero crushing.
Many cables are too hard to be cleanly cut by generic cable cutters. These cut cables easily, cleanly & without any unravelling of the cable.
But to be honest, $40+ is simply too expensive for such a basic tool. It may last a life time, but a tool half the price would work well still.
