Much better than previous chain cleaner I had. Very easy to use.
I've had my eye on these for years now and only just got round to getting one. What a mistake! - I could have saved myself so much bother just getting one of these in the first place. Once you've filled it up with fluid the gunk just rinses straight off and pours out. I was amazed how clean it came out... way better than 20 minutes scrubbing with a toothbrush - will pay for itself in time saved in no time.
Well made, easy to use, my chain is now sparkling like new and sounds like a Kraftwerk LP - marvellous! :-)
perfect tool for a great price, thanks.
Here's a surprise: Bicycle chains get dirty. And dirty chains are self-destructive, not only burning themselves out prematurely, but also abusing the rings and cassette, shortening their lives as well. To stop the cycle, clip the Cyclone over the chain, fill it with the solvent of your choice and backpedal: Brushes inside detox the chain, leaving it brighter than crazy Tom Cruise's smile.Â
I bought this to try and take some of the faff out of chain cleaning: the mess, the time, the wasted degreaser. Since it arrived I really do wonder why I waited so long to purchase one.
It's even better than I imagined and makes the task so much easier.
This is simply a must-have for clean freaks. I love keeping my drivetrain clean and this is the easiest way to make sure that my bike is operating smoothly. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a simple way to clean their chain.
Every cyclist needs to have a decent chain cleaner in their stash and like many of their other products, Park Tools' chain cleaner is pretty much the best one I've tried. Super sturdy and so easy to use, this thing does exactly what it says, and does it very well.
Two capfuls of your preferred degreaser in the lower chamber, site it on the chain and two dozen methodical cranks later, your chain is back to its shiny factory condition before your eyes. A quick wipe down and you're done. Fantastic.
Sometimes you can (and should) try and save a few dollars on certain bike parts. But along with a decent set of tyres, comfy shoes and seat, a solid, reliable chain cleaner should be another one of your cycling essentials.
I have had this item in a couple of months and I'm really satisfied with how it cleans the chain, I use soap, since I don't have Park Tool's chain cleaning solvent, and I think it works great!
I got the product about a month ago and have been using it to clean my chain after every 100 miles or so. While I have not tried using Park Tool's chain cleaning solvent, I have experimented with dish soap with water, and mineral spirits (white spirit or paint thinner). I've found mineral spirits to be very powerful at removing debris from my chain and I'm very happy with the results.
The primary downside of the product that I've noticed so far is that the sponge quickly becomes saturated with whatever liquid cleaner you're using. This results in the chain becoming saturated with liquid as you clean and ends with liquid dripping from the chain onto the ground. So while the product does seek to contain the cleaning process, it is definitely not perfect in doing so. But as long as you avoid using it indoors, it really shouldn't be a problem.
