In the average female, the pubic symphysis (front cartilage connecting the two halves of the pelvis) is positioned lower than in a male pelvis, and the angle of the pubic bones towards each other is wider. Furthermore, mobility is higher in women, so when in the saddle, their pelvis often rocks further forwards. This can create high pressure in the genital area. The centre relief, which is positioned far at the front, as well as the wider saddle flanks help distribute the pressure of the sitting area.

Pressure Relief Inlays: Inlays in the sit and genital areas distribute sitting pressure.

Relief Channel: This recess achieves maximum relief in the genital area to prevent discomfort and numbness in the genital area.

Ramp: The ramp supports the buttocks when in a strongly inclined forward position, allowing for improved pressure relief in the genital area.

Shape: The V-shape optimally supports the pubic bone and the pressure is transferred to the bony structures.

Wide Front: A wide nose allows for a large relief zone without interfering edges.

Short Nose: Saddle length is reduced to a minimum in order to improve the freedom of movement on the bike.

Surprisingly comfortable

Needed a new saddle for my alu bike (Trek Lexa) to replace my old Terry Race Liberator Ti. I've been riding SI Diva Gel for a number of years on my Trek Silque, bought a new one last year and nothing but discomfort on anything other than a short ride. Either the saddle's changed or I have. Bought the Ergon (Size M/L) based on reviews, mounted it on the Lexa that I use on my SNAP for winter Zwifting and was surprised to find myself sitting on my sitbones. For me, that's always been somewhat elusive. I've now used it for over 4 hours and no discomfort whatsoever. Takes a bit of fiddling to get it level (read the little instruction sheet). Like the little up-ramp at the rear, gives you something to push against. Also the nose is narrower than the Diva. so no rubbing. I like it so much, I've ordered another one to replace my 1-year old Diva on my Silque. As for discomfort, I haven't experienced any yet. Not a lot of padding, just where it counts. With the microfibre cover, no slipping either. I hope I'm just as satisfied when I'm finally able to take it on the road.
