Time Xpresso 8 Carbon Pedals

These are clearly the best pedals I have used. Having said that, my other pedals are shimano mtb and road 540's. BUT the ease in getting in and out is chalk and cheese to the shimanos and they are nice and light.

Easy entry

Bought these Time Xpresso 8 Carbon Pedals at a super price from PBK. It didn't hurt that they are a perfect match for my red and black Orbea Onix. I have never been happy with the Ultegra pedals I bought when I first got this bike. My chief complaint is how hard they are to enter. The Ultegras always flip over and they are so top heavy it takes a lot of work to get them positioned correctly. I often find my shoes slipping off the pedals as I try to snap in. I made the same mistake with my mountain bike, going with Shimano pedals before discovering Time. I love my ATAC pedals, figured this might be the same case with the road bike. It was. I had some difficulty figuring out which side these go on (Time could make this a lot easier, and their multi-language instructions drove me nuts). I really like how you can put an Allen wrench through the pedal to get things tight, meaning you can actually torque these to spec. Once on the bike, I tackled the cleats which was no bother either--except I have no idea on the options. Again, I wish Time had spent some time telling you the advantages of the various float schemes. They did go on easily and the markings help get them the same on each foot. Now for the test ride - the mouse trap design is a great idea. The pedal is always waiting for your cleat, and my first attempt at clicking in was perfect. I know I saved just a few grams, but it sure seems like my bike is a lot lighter with these on and they look fantastic. I have no trouble getting in and out, though the out is a little harder as expected since you are opening the trap. I do feel movement in the left pedal which made me stop to see if it was loose. There is some fore and aft play between cleat and pedal that I've got to figure out. You can hear it clicking in a GoPro video I made. Other than that, I love these pedals.

I absolutely love these pedals. Light, easy to clip in and out, yet secure riding. And they look great also! Thank you!
