The Shimano ST-6871 features Di2 technology so shifting is easy and precise - just a light touch, as soft as a mouse click, is sufficient for the front or rear derailleur to instantaneously select the correct gear.
The removal of traditional mechanical cables in favour of electrical wires eliminates poor shifting caused by contaminates, corrosion and stretching, and also provides effortless gear shifts.

Expensive must haves
Riding on the extensions is all well and good, but when you have to come down onto the brakes, these make changing gears effortless. They come with an integrated cable long enough to reach a junction box mounted on the stem so no extra cables are needed. I had to take my bike to a LBS to get the software updated, but they're great. Only reason it's a 4 not a 5 is how expensive they are.
6871 DI2 shifter levers
These handle bar levers and shifters are great value compared with the full Dura Ace. Although they say there is no cables, they do indeed come with enough cable to feed through your base bars up to a stem mounted junction box. Which is great so no extra cables required. Great prices from Probikekit. 5/5
Ultegra time trial brake gear levers
Fitted these to my TT bike fantastic makes for easier shifting when out the saddle and makes you want to train on your TT bike more.
