Easy set up

Usual good quality and from opening the box, setting it up and going for a ride was around 15 minutes. Data seemed to transfer much faster to my Garmin Connect than my previous 500 after the ride. Very pleased and hope to have this 500 for as long as the previous one.

Garmin Edge 500 GPS Cycle Computer-Neutral

Have always wanted a Garmin GPS Cycle Computer. As I've only heard good things about them. The information you get is clear and substantial. Currently I only have the unit itself . However, you can buy Heart Rate Moniters, Cadence and Power Meters. I could of bought them all at the same time but unfortunately funds wouldn't stretch that far when buying the unit. The good news is that you can buy them as and when funds allow. There's up to 5 pages of info available where you can display as much, or as little as you want.Once the individual has his or her extra's for their individual needs. Even the unit itself has a lot of info on offer. Eventually I will be investing in a HR Monitor to help with my training. I would strongly recommend the Garmin Edge 500 as an entry level GPS. As the information displayed once uploaded to the Garmin Connect Website provides you with plenty of information for any cyclists training regeme. As regards to the service and delivery by Probike. It's superb and I just can't fault their service. I would therefore highly recommend The Garmin Edge 500 GPS Bike Computer for any budding Cyclist and their training and Probike for the superb service they provide.

Great Garmin

Bought a Garmin Edge 500. Delivery was very slow due to problems with supply although ProBikeKit did keep sending emails periodically apologising for this. Now that it's finally arrived, over two weeks late, I'm really pleased with it. Just a few niggles though that I think could be covered better by Garmin. It was confusing regarding the disc that was included in the package. I thought it'd include the necessary software to install on your computer. However, all it contains is a computer version of the paper manual that is also in the box! Being a bit of a technophobe, I didn't know what I needed to download and it was only through talking to friends that I discovered I needed Garmin Express & Connect. I think that this could be explained in the instruction booklet. Anyway, those gripes aside, the Garmin itself seems to work well and accurately. I've only had it up and running a few days and used it twice, but so far so good. I guess I'll work out more of its functions in due course but at the moment I'm happy with what it does and having read reviews of both the 500 & 510 I think I've made the right choice for my requirements considering the price difference between them and the fact that the 500 seems to do most of the things that the 510 does anyway (and is smaller & less intrusive on the bike). I'm also pleased with the 'out-front' mount that I bought separately that sits it centrally in front of the stem.

Good price and quick delivery

I decided on an Edge 500 after considering a number of GPS computer options. I like the small size and light weight, and the ability to read data easily on the move, unlike the phone I was previously using to record rides. I've yet to fully customise the device to set it up as I'd like it, and I still need to experiment with Courses, but so far so good...

Edge 500

Great piece of kit & the best price on the net from PBK. Was undecided between this and the more expensive edge 800. Having read loads of reviews I went for the 500 and have not been disappointed. It picks up GPS quickly, it's small, neat and menu's are easily navigated. I absolutely love Stava & uploading couldn't be easier.

Leading Edge

The Edge 500 may have been supreseded technically, but if you're looking for a simple yet very powerful computer, look no further. As I've got a trip planned in France this year, I wanted a unit that would log gradient, altitude, height gain / descent, and temp. I don't use a heart rate monitor or power meter and didn't want cadence (what a mess on the bike) - the unit can do all of these with the appropriate accessories (look out for the other value pack). This is simple to set up (even for three bikes) and use and seems to be accurate and reliable. Best to set the altitude for key known start points yourself (get it off the web) to improve accuracy further. Really like how you can configure the display, so I can read the relevant key bits of info by lettng it scroll as I ride. And then there's Garmin Connect..........
