Zipp brake pads
I was a little sceptical of having to purchase a brake pad restricted as "The" only pad to be used on Zipps. But so far I have been impressed massively. They bed in quick, give great modulation and all round feel and they dont heat up the rims anywhere near as much as I expected on long sweeping fast steep French alpine descents of up to 60mph. I'm a big rider (6'1" and 86kgs) so I am also really impressed with the emergency braking qualities too. The only downside for all this performance... they wear out uber quick ! and you only get 2 for the price of 4 ! Expensive peace of mind or fear of using anyother pad !
The best option for Zipp wheels
I ordered these as they are the recommended pads for my zipp 404 wheels and the braking performance is fantastic. The do wear quickly, but I'd rather that than wear the carbon rim out. I was initially concerned as the packaging doesn't mentioned 'Tangente' anywhere, it just states 'Platinum Pro Evo Brake Pad' but I confirmed with Zipp these are the same thing and are the latest version.
Best Pads
Over the years I have tried many makes of carbon pads, and without doubt these are the best I've tried, giving braking at least on a par with quality pads on alloy rims, and almost as good as disc brakes! Only negative is their price, but for the braking performance they give, I think, they are worth it.
