Northwave Celcius GTX Boot

I have only used these for 4 rides so far, 2 were freezing and 1 was very freezing. These boots are very comfy to ride in, and have kept my feet nice and warm. I have not been out in the rain yet to test them out for waterproofness. So far I am very impressed with these boots.

Good with limitations

Ok I have these and the road version and they have been excellent in Melbournes winter. The shoes are well made with a draw string closure with velcro over the tops. The draw string is way too long and needs cutting down, but holds the shoes on well. The boots themselves are very waterproof being gore tex and only get wet if water seeps down the leg. In heavy rain it takes around 45-60 minutes to seep in, but with waterproof pants my feet are totally dry.The ankle collar is a neoprene type material which does get wetter than the base but is still good.
If you get these wet then take the inner sole out and use newspaper to dry otherwise mould spores will grow as I found out the hard way.
If its not wet then I have never had cold feet unlike my regular shoes + covers. I can ride for hours knowing I wont have to worry about my feet (down to around zero degrees here)

Great winter boot, Not an amazing value.

Winter biking boots are an investment. They are one of the most important pieces of equipment you could ever ask for.

Fact is, when you're a courier in Minneapolis, Minnesota; they rather become a necessity. I've tried a few different kinds over the years. The Northwave Celsius were by far the warmest. The waterproofness was very much on par with all other Gore-Tex shoes and various technical clothing. The neoprene upper did get soaked and seep water in though. Once water was in the shoe, it became really hard to dry.

The durability was not what I expected. Unfortunately, when you buy boots like this, they need to last a few winters. I rode close to 3000 miles this winter for work, and I realize that bike shoes (especially when you have to walk a lot) will take a beating in that situation.

If you bike anything more than about 5 hours a day in the winter, AND need to walk around, look for a sturdier shoe. If you're someone who enjoys biking and is not about to let Winter stop you, then get this boot!

My only constructive criticism would be that they should make the cuff out of something else, or at the very least cover it up. Extending it up the leg wouldn't go too amiss either.

Pretty good winter shoes

First the good: these are true to size and fit like other Northwave shoes; they are well made, they are comfortable on my feet, they are very much waterproof.
But the bad: the cleat slots are too far forwards on the sole, the sole is a bit too flexible for my liking, the soft fabric around the ankle acts like a sponge in concert with my socks to draw water inside the shoe - and once they fill up they stay filled because they are very waterproof. They are also very sweaty on warm, wet days - not good for summer rain.
