Just like a coach, Forerunner® 220 provides the motivating feedback you need to guide your training. You can even get post-run encouragement from friends and fans, thanks to the 220’s connected features like real-time live tracking and social media sharing via the Garmin Connect Mobile™ app.

A Coach in Every Watch

Forerunner® 220 measures essential running data like distance, pace and heart rate¹. It’s like having a coach on hand, providing constant feedback and recording all your stats so you can focus on your run. In addition to using GPS to calculate distance and pace, the 220 has a built-in accelerometer. This allows it to capture distance and pace data when you’re running on an indoor track or treadmill, with no need for a separate foot pod accessory. The accelerometer can also track distance when GPS is unavailable, such as when you run through a tunnel. It’s compatible with free training plans from Garmin Connect™, which you can schedule and send to your watch, for real-time coaching.

Garmin Forerunner 220

Easy to Use

The 220 is one of the first Garmin running watches to have a colour display, which makes it easy to interpret your data at a glance. It also features simple button operations and a sturdy, hinged wristband that’s comfortable for any size wrist.

Extra Training Features

You can set up alerts for heart rate, pace or run/walk intervals to help you stay in the desired range. The 220 features vibration alerts and audible alerts, and you can customise your watch to provide both or just one type of prompt. When your run’s done and saved in your watch’s history, a post-run summary appears so you can see how you did. The 220 also notices if you hit any personal records on that run, like your fastest kilometre, 5k, 10k, half or full marathon or your longest run to date.

Get Connected

If you’re like most runners, you want to analyse your stats after your run or race, but you may not be back at your computer right away. Forerunner® 220 solves that by automatically uploading your data to Garmin Connect, our free online community where you can save, plan and share your activities. Just download the free Garmin Connect Mobile app to your smartphone and then pair your watch. When you save your completed run, it will automatically upload to Garmin Connect when you’re in range of your phone.

Additional connected features include live tracking, which allows your friends and fans to follow along and see your stats in real-time. You must have your phone paired with the 220 throughout your run to use the LiveTrack feature. You can also share your victories on your social media sites by posting updates through the Garmin Connect Mobile app. And, for real-time coaching as you run, the 220 is compatible with free training plans at Garmin Connect. By regularly connecting your watch to Garmin Connect, you'll also benefit from a faster GPS fix due to satellite data that will be sent to your device automatically.

Great all round watch but usual Garmin gripes

This watch is brilliant if you enjoy running. It has a sensible display, the cadence tracker is both accurate and excellent and the training pace alerts are a really nice to have to save you looking at your arm all of the time. I love a touch screen but I am glad this doesn't have it as the buttons are very easy to find and use and don't act funny when wet. My only gripe is that living in zone 3 and working in central London picking up satellites quickly is a pain. I find this odd though given how quickly my phone locates me - perhaps the garmin is more accurate? Well I'm not sure given that when I compare my watch to strava, both give the same distance to 1 d.p which is fine over 10-20k (strava won't go more accurate than this). My other gripe is a classic moan at garmin - you need to download Garmin Express to register this as Garmin Connect won't. Why? Who knows. Also, the autopause software on Garmin is far too sensitive. When I look at my pace map on the computer I can see long chunks of me standing still which garmin records as me moving, because over 30 seconds I may have crossed the road. This is annoying because at the end of the run average pace pretty much means nothing. Why the software doesn't brush over this anomaly is beyond me - strava does. This means that when running in central london, I am 15 seconds quicker average on strava than garmin... So the watch is excellent, I only wish Garmin would sort out their platform.

Garmin Forerunner 220

Easy to use and easy to read the information when running. This watch finds satellites really quick - Just turn it on and start running. I'm also impressed with the battery life and haven't needed to recharge it for the week I've owned it. Overall really impressed with the watch.

Better than I expected

I had a FR60 before this which I had been pleased with, but it wanted to be able to view more data which the 220 does fantastically. I have been very pleased with my purchase.

Garmin at its best

The watch is simple and easy to use - as it says on the box turn it on and go for a run. The upload to Garmin Connect via the iPhone is seamless. It found the heart rate monitor straight away. The screen is easy to read, with lots of information available to view - but I just stick with the basics. The only minor issue I have is when I go to other places, the GPS signal can take a while to connect - but no more than a minute or so. I bought this version because of the Bluetooth connectivity, my other half has the 910XT, loading onto Garmin connect is much simpler with the 220, but the functionality is a lot less. Although it is more expensive due to the Bluetooth, I would recommend it.

Garmin 220

Great product. After a bit of a hiccup with the payment I received the watch promptly! Very happy with the purchase & worth the money.
