800xl light
Very well built light. Appears rugged and with high quality construction. Very strong beam, excellent light all around usage.
just the right balance
I'm a big fan of Lezyne products and particularly their lights. This one strikes the right balance between lumens, weight, bulk and price. One step up are the Super and Power Drives, which get noticeably bulkier and heavier for barely noticeable extra light reach. Because it's lighter it requires no sophisticated mechanism to get onto the handlebars (just rubber strap). Very well priced on this website as well. However I concur with Glen that the strap is very short. If your handlebars are the standard 25mm you'll get used to it but if you have thick ones (31.8 or 35) you're probably in for some pain fitting it on.
It could have been so much better
I bought this light because I needed a decent light I could swap between a number of bike using the rubber (ladder) mount. The light is fine but the 'strap on' mount is not so great. The hook to attach the strap part to is only a few millimeters below the light and right at the rear so is very hard to attach the strap to. It gets worse with a 31.8 bar as you are at the limit of the strap. I can't stretch the strap enough, and get it onto to the hook, so it is not very useful for the purpose I wanted.
