Worth the effort
As an Ironman athlete, I have never had an issue with being uncomfortable in the saddle, even on the longest rides. However, that was on a road bike (with clip on aero bars). Now I have (finally!) got a TT rig, the saddle has become quite the sore point, no doubt from the much farther forward and aggressive position. Anyway, I took the gamble and am glad I did. You will still get sore on a long ride, you are just be sore in better places. My sit bones are a little tender today after a 5 hour ride yesterday, but at least my 'soft tissue' as ISM politely say is not sore at all. I expect the sit bone soreness will go in time. I have done 5 or so long rides and it took two outings to really get the positioning right. Now, the only thing stopping me getting aero is exhaustion. A little extra padding could have been useful on the seat as it does feel quite hard. Could be problematic with a tri chamois over a long distance. I have been wearing cycling kit so far.

I cannot recommend trying the ISM Adamo Road Bicycle Saddle enough if you are having issues and feel like you're at the end of the road with traditional styles. I started with the tt saddle and loved it so much I got the road model too which is softer and is much more comfortable for longer rides and climbing.
