Sharpen your cycling performance with Edge 500, a lightweight GPS-based cycling computer for performance-driven cyclists. Loaded with data, Edge 500 tracks your distance, speed, location and elevation with high sensitivity GPS. Add an ANT+® compatible heart rate monitor, speed/cadence sensor or compatible power meter for a finely-tuned analysis of your ride.

Jumpstart Your Training

Garmin Edge 500

The Edge 500 attaches easily to the stem or handlebars of your bike with its low-profile bike mount. The Edge attaches easily to the mount with a simple quarter-turn. When you're ready to ride, just power on your Edge, acquire GPS satellites and go. Edge 500 features a high-sensitivity GPS receiver with HotFix® satellite prediction to calculate your position faster.

Get the Data You Need

Garmin Edge 500

During your ride, Edge 500 measures your speed, distance, time, calories burned, altitude, climb and descent, and records this data for your review. For extra-precise climb and descent data, Edge 500 also incorporates a barometric altimeter to pinpoint changes in elevation.

All Edge 500 versions work with third-party ANT+-enabled power meters to display your power output in watts as you ride. This valuable data shows you how hard you're working, regardless of conditions affecting your ride, so you can train smarter. Some versions also ship with a digital heart rate monitor and speed/cadence sensor.

Other helpful training features include a Courses feature, which helps you compare successive rides over the same route, as well as Auto Pause, Auto Lap and temperature readings. Edge also alerts you if you’re moving but the timer is not running.

Track Your Heart Rate

When paired with a Garmin heart rate monitor, Edge 500 tracks heart beats per minute and uses your heart rate for advanced calorie computation, so you know how many calories you're burning. Train in a certain heart-rate zone to improve your fitness level or compare your pace and heart rate to past performance over the same ride.

Analyse Your Ride

Once your ride’s done, connect Edge 500 to your computer with the included USB cable to analyse your performance. With a simple click, you can join a worldwide network of cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts through Garmin Connect™, a one-stop site for data analysis and sharing.

Great gear!

This is awesome price to value item. I am highly recommend you if you don't have enough money for build up your activity analyze and management system. Of course, expensive gear means good quality and performance and convinience, but I think this meets good balance between price and quiality and performance. So I choose it. It's time to buy it!

Is it worth the price?

A few years ago I got a tax refund and decided to use part of it to splurge on the Garmin Edge 500. I've never regretted it. It's not a necessity, but it gets used constantly. And PBK has the best price I've ever seen, especially with free shipping (and a coupon code if one's available).

Everything I ever wanted in a computer

I absolutely love this computer. I opted for this version as I don't have a lot of need to monitor my heart rate. The Garmin website is excellent for tracking rides / progress. I would HIGHLY recommend this computer for anybody that wants a bit more functionality out of a computer.

My only complaint is that it sometimes takes a while to locate satellites, but then again, so do my other GPS devices.

what more can i say

This unit does everything you want and more.
It does not have maps displayed on it but who needs that really??
Absolutely love this computer.

Great GPS Computer at the Size Smaller than Most Cyclocomputers

Very fast satellite acquisition, lots of data fields at your fingertips, and ability to upload turn by turn courses to follow when riding. If only the courses longer than 40 miles didn't cause the unit to crash, it would have achieved 5 stars.

Feature - packed and fully customisable- we love it Cycling Plus Editors choice 9/10

Garmin's new bike computer is a smart piece of kit. It works via GPS rather then from a magnet- tripped sensor and offers a massive amount of information.

".... you can customise the amount of data shown on the three different screens and display only the fields you want. Its all uploadable when you get home and you can store it on your Mac/PC and/or Garmin's website. Use this and it records a map of your route, your splits, and you get graphs, comparing speed, elevation, and, if you've taken it, your heart rate data. Clever, useful stuff yet simple to use.
